The end for AAF? Alliance of American Football to suspend football operations

The end for AAF? Alliance of American Football to suspend football operations”

The owner of the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes, Dundon committed $250 million to the AAF in February, an investment that reportedly kept the league afloat.

A week ago, AAF majority owner Tom Dundon warned that the league would fold without some help from the National Football League Players Association, which had been preventing the first-year league from using fringe NFL players to fill out its rosters. It is also unclear whether or not the business end of the league will remain in production.

Founded and led by television producer Charlie Ebersol, the Alliance of American Football is also backed in part by Peter Thiel's Founders Fund, The Chernin Group, and venture capitalist Keith Rabois.

Bates said he agreed with states challenging the rule that the Department of Labor stretched the definition of the "employer". The lawsuit was brought by NY , 10 other states and the District of Columbia a year ago .

As it stood, the National Football League collective bargaining agreement would not allow several of Dundon's asks, including a flexible system between AAF players and National Football League practice squads.

Instead, McMahon chose to restart his own league; it is scheduled to launch next year.

Originally scheduled to be played on April 28 in Las Vegas, the AAF championship game was moved to Frisco last week.

UK Parliament seized control over Brexit, to vote on alternatives on Wednesday
Labour whipped in favour of the change championed by a Tory backbencher, while the government opposed it. May went over her own Brexit scenarios at an emergency cabinet meeting earlier Monday.

Blaming the NFLPA for their problems seems short-sighted at best; if the AAF wanted to partner with the National Football League and NFLPA, it should have done so before it ran into dire straights. A variation of it was proposed during last week's National Football League owners meetings but did not get approved. There's a lot to learn here for the other leagues looking to challenge the NFL (we're looking at you, new XFL). He became the controlling owner of the league at that point, something Ebersol and Polian might now regret.

Multiple books confirmed to ESPN that they will refund all wagers on futures bets, including those on the Memphis Express and Atlanta Legends - teams that had already been eliminated from postseason contention.
