Airwolf star Jan-Michael Vincent dies at 73”

Actor Jan-Michael Vincent, who starred on the big screen in the 1970s and in the hit TV series "Airwolf" in the 1980s died February 10 of cardiac arrest.

He last appeared in the 2002 movie "White Boy". That led to a co-starring role opposite Charles Bronson in Michael Winner's 1972 movie The Mechanic. But fame came hard and fast thanks to his starring role as Stringfellow Hawke, the daring and handsome pilot of the Airwolf high-tech military helicopter in the CBS series, which co-starred Ernest Borgnine. While on the show, Vincent was one of the highest paid people on TV, reportedly getting paid $200,000 per episode.

Vincent battled with alcohol and substance abuse, having been arrested for possession of cocaine and bar brawls various times.

Born in 1947 in Denver, Colorado, Vincent made his first appearance on screen in the 1967 television film The Hardy Boys: The Mystery of the Chinese Junk under the name Mike Vincent. He was ordered to pay $350,000 in 2000 after physically assaulting an ex-girlfriend and causing her to miscarry their child.
