Trump Must Act as India Launches Surgical Airstrikes on Nuclear-Armed Pakistan”

The foreign secretary also launched a global outreach, briefing envoys of the USA, UK, Russia, Australia, Indonesia, Turkey and six Asean nations on the Indian air strike across LoC in Balakot.

Lt. Col. Devender Anand, an Indian army spokesman, said Pakistani soldiers attacked Indian positions overnight along the boundary in Kashmir, the so-called Line of Control. He paid tribute to the military and said: "I assure the nation that the country is in safe hands".

Insurgents in Indian-controlled Kashmir have been demanding either outright independence or union with Pakistan.

"The Foreign Minister said the nation should not be anxious over the Indian act as the defenders of the country are fully prepared to respond to any misadventure", Radio Pakistan added on its website.

The airstrikes came 12 days after a suicide auto bomb attack by Jaish-e-Muhammad on Indian paramilitary soldiers in India's half of Kashmir.

Pakistan said there had been no casualties at all.

In Pakistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan called an emergency meeting of his national security committee Tuesday, after which his office released a statement saying, "Once again [the] Indian government has resorted to a self serving, reckless and fictitious claim".

The camp in Balakot was led by Maulana Yusuf Azhar alias Ustad Ghauri, brother-in-law of JeM Chief Masood Azhar.

Pakistan's chief military spokesperson, Major General Asif Ghafoor, tweeted photos of what he said was the site where the Indian munitions hit.

The resumption of bilateral dialogue between Islamabad and New Delhi is necessary to initiate a peaceful settlement of differences, it said.

"The government should remain alert and watch out for what Pakistan is going to do", Raja said.

Kashmir, which is split between the two countries but claimed by each in its entirety, has been the cause of two wars between the neighbors.

Australia: Reopening of detention camp a 'cruel and unnecessary political stunt'
Under the previous system, the Minister for Home Affairs, now Peter Dutton, had final say over all proposed medical transfers. He said he was confident anyone who was transferred to Australia would remain in detention while receiving treatment.

Pakistan has done nothing to dismantle terror mechanism there, Gokhale said.

The approximately 1,000 kilogram (2,200 pound) air-to-ground missiles were launched by Indian Mirage fighter jets.

Analysts have alleged Pakistani militants have their training camps in the area, although Pakistan has always denied the presence of any such camps.

The airspace violation by Indian jets capped 12 days of bitter exchanges between the two nuclear-armed hostile neighbours, triggering global alarm, with China and the European Union calling for both sides to show restraint.

"We built bunkers near our home years ago and we will use them if there is any attack from India in our area", said Mohammad Shafiq, 55.

Shelling across the Line of Control has occurred frequently over the past few years but airspace incidents are extremely rare. "We will shut them and let the people of Pakistan and the world know", he said.
