Michael Cohen Testimony Schedule

Michael Cohen Testimony Schedule”

Michael Cohen, long-time lawyer and aide to Donald Trump, is set to deliver explosive testimony to Congress and could detail how Trump broke the law while in office, according to U.S. media reports.

In a statement released Tuesday, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders called Cohen a "disgraced felon", who is going to prison for lying to Congress and making other false statements.

Vanity Fair has more on what the questioning will include: "Cohen plans to air the president's dirty laundry during three days of congressional hearings-a final act of allocution before he reports to prison in May". The public will hear from him Wednesday when he testifies before the House Oversight and Reform Committee.

He will go behind closed doors again when he talks to the House intelligence committee on Thursday.

According to an internal committee memo seen by INSIDER, Democrats on the panel plan to question Cohen extensively about several hush-money payments made during the 2016 election to women who said they had affairs with Trump.

Nigeria Counts Cost of Last-Minute Vote Delay as Stocks Tank
But the delay still threw the country, where some 84 million people have registered to vote, into renewed political uncertainty. The president's order comes as Nigerians prepare to vote at the rescheduled general elections starting on Saturday.

As Special Counsel Robert Mueller appears to be near the end of his probe into whether Russian Federation meddled in the 2016 presidential election in collusion with Trump's campaign, Cohen's assertion that Trump was inquiring about the skyscraper project as late as June 2016, if true, would show Trump remained personally engaged in the venture well into his candidacy.

He said no topics will be off limits and Cohen "should expect to get any question from anywhere about anything".

President Donald Trump's ex-lawyer is now an ex-lawyer.

On 29 November, Cohen pleaded guilty to lying to Congress by telling lawmakers in 2017 that all efforts relating to the Moscow project had ceased by January 2016.

"We think he has a lot to offer", Adam Schiff, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, told ABC's "This Week" on Sunday.

Insane NASCAR crash triggers carnage at Daytona 500
While Denny Hamlin won his second Daytona 500 in four seasons, one racer in the field may not compete in another NASCAR race. Duel winners Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano join Brad Keselowski as 8-1 co-favorites in the latest 2019 Daytona 500 odds.

Cohen now stands as a major threat to the Trump presidency, and Republicans are expected to largely paint him as a liar at Wednesday's hearing. Trump's former fixer intends to tell lawmakers about "hush" payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels during the election, the network reported - payments that prosecutors already have said in court filings were directed by a person known to be Trump.

Trump blamed Cohen for mishandling the payments.

Senators on the panel are expected to attend the meeting with Cohen, a departure from the committee's usual practice, where witness interviews are conducted by staff only.

According to the Journal, Cohen will detail Mr Trump's "lies, racism and cheating" over a decade of working for him.

The hearing will also examine whether Trump has complied with campaign finance and tax laws, his ties to the Trump International Hotel in Washington and "potential and actual conflicts of interest".
