U.S. to review North Korea travel ban, top diplomat says

U.S. to review North Korea travel ban, top diplomat says”

Amid stalled negotiations between Washington and Pyongyang over the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. the US special envoy for North Korea, Stephen Biegun, is meeting with South Korean officials today.to talk about a range of issues related to North Korea.

On June 12 in Singapore, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and US President Donald Trump signed a vaguely worded pledge to "work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula".

The statement could jeopardize a second Trump-Kim summit as the United States may have difficulty negotiating further if the North ties the future of its nukes to the USA military presence in the South, analysts said.

Mr. Bolton was referring to a pledge that the North Korean leader made in June at his first face-to-face meeting with Mr. Trump in Singapore.

Russians Used Many Social Media Platforms to Aid Trump
The report has been provided to the Senate Senate Intelligence Committee for their investigation into Russian interference. Its authors write: "Our assessment is that Instagram is likely to be a key battleground on an ongoing basis".

Trump has said he is willing to hold another summit with Kim Jong-un early next year despite the fact that the North hasn't shown any progress on its commitments at the last summit.

Since his June meeting with Kim, Trump has claimed progress in negotiations with North Korea, but talks appear to have stalled as Pyongyang has been demanding the removal of worldwide sanctions as a precondition for denuclearization. "We remain confident and we look forward to the commitments that Chairman Kim and that President Trump have made".

Ahead of the meeting, Biegun expressed hopes of ending the decades-long hostility on the Korean Peninsula.to create a brighter future for South and North.

In a state like North Korea, where the media has no freedom and everyone in the news industry must act in compliance with the state, opinions featured in state-run news outlets are often considered to be the official opinion of the government. Washington and Seoul did not immediately respond to the North Korean statement.

Canada's dilemma over Meng Wanzhou and Huawei
Canadian officials are still pressing China for access to Canadian entrepreneur Michael Spavor, who is also being detained. But after days of engaging with Chinese officials, Canada was finally granted access to diplomat on-leave Michael Kovrig .

Yang Moo-jin, a professor at Seoul's University of North Korean Studies, said it's unlikely that the North would push things too far and allow the momentum for dialogue to collapse. Washington wants these to be inspected and dismantled before it will lift sanctions on Pyongyang, but North Korea insists that sanctions must be lifted first.

The State Department cancelled a much-anticipated meeting between Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and North Korean official Kim Yong Chol in November with little explanation, saying the meeting "will now take place at a later date". "We're in a better place today", Pompeo said to Kansas radio station KNSS.

The commentary states that if North Korea gives up its nuclear weapons, rather than lead to denuclearization it would render North Korea a "defenseless state" where the "balance in nuclear strategic strength is destroyed" and the "crisis of a nuclear war is brought forth".

The North Korean statement came a day after Stephen Biegun, the Trump administration's special envoy, told reporters in South Korea that Washington was considering easing travel restrictions on the hermit state to ease humanitarian shipments and help resolve the impasse in nuclear negotiations. The statement suggests that North Korea will demand that the U.S. withdraw or significantly reduce the 28,500 American troops stationed in South Korea, which would be a major sticking point to a potential disarmament deal.
