Google exposed user data, feared repercussions of disclosing to public”

At least two USA states are investigating a breach at Alphabet Inc.'s Google that may have exposed private profile data of at least 500,000 users to hundreds of external developers. Those developers were granted access to user data including names, email addresses, birth dates, gender, profile photos, places lived, occupation and relationship status.

Google shuttered its consumer Google+ site, after the company discovered a software glitch that gave outsiders potential access to private profile data.

Announcing the move in a blog post, the American internet giant said it would "sunset" Google Plus for consumers over the next 10 months after failing to gain any major traction since launching in 2011. Others include limiting what sorts of data that can be collected per transaction when users share their Gmail accounts and phone numbers. If you use the service for work, though, Google+ is not going anywhere. As a result all European Union data protection authorities have jurisdiction to engage with Google on the breach.

Trump aided family members in tax fraud
They revealed Trump received at least $US413 million in today's dollars from when he was a small child through the present day. But the newspaper said its exhaustive investigation of tax returns and confidential records found this was not true.

Google found the issue with their API back in March but chose to ignore it and not report it to the regulatory bodies.

The review found no misuse of the data and the problem was fixed in March, but the company's privacy and data protection office said the vulnerability didn't meet the threshold of security issues to notify users of the data breach.

Google will also remove access to contact interaction data from the Android Contacts API within the next few months. This bug could allow a user's installed apps to utilize the API and access non-public information belonging to that user's friends. However, we ran a detailed analysis over the two weeks prior to patching the bug, and from that analysis, the Profiles of up to 500,000 Google+ accounts were potentially affected.

Of course I feel for him. "There's no way that the previous game you've played can have anything to do with this game coming up". According to a report from RMC Sport , Mourinho has lost the faith of his players, and his days are now "numbered".

Google is finally killing its bad social network Google+.

Google goes "beyond legal requirements" and applies "several criteria focused on our users" when deciding whether to provide notice, a spokesperson said in a statement. This means that the bug had access to information shared to the user, even those not marked as public. Y'know...other than users' data, and consumer trust. "Given these challenges and the very low usage of the consumer version of Google+, we made a decision to sunset the consumer version of Google+", Google said in the blog announcement. For one thing, soon, only Android apps which the user has assigned as their default for use will be allowed to request certain permissions like making calls and sending SMS.
