Brett Kavanaugh, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins: Broadsheet October 8

Brett Kavanaugh, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins: Broadsheet October 8”

President Trump presided over a ceremonial swearing-in for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh Monday evening at the White House. Protests grew following numerous allegations against the judge regarding sexual assault as well as evidence that he committed perjury during his confirmation hearings and a partisan tirade in which he claimed "the left" orchestrated the allegations and threatened, "What goes around comes around".

"The way they really tortured him and his family, I thought it was a disgrace", Trump said on Monday, US east coast time.

The law clerks include one former clerk of Kavanaugh's from the D.C. Circuit Court, Kim Jackson, and Shannon Grammel and Megan Lacy, who previously clerked for other appeals court justices. If this sounds quite familiar by now, the Senate race is showing a sharp contrast - Trump's party has a 7 in 9 chance of taking the Senate and this late surge has gained on the Kavanaugh controversy.

"It unleashed something inside me".

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is not ruling out a third Supreme Court seat being filled by President Donald Trump - even if a vacancy does not open up until 2020. He hailed the vote at a campaign rally later that night in Kansas where he told a crowd "I stand before you today on the heels of a tremendous victory for our nation, our people and our beloved Constitution".

I need to talk to the big boss, Dana White , to make it happen". (But) I did not plan this, I tried to get here. There will never be peace here. "But if you can't aim for peace, aim between the eyes", he bellowed.

Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats gave a global platform 11 days ago to Christine Blasey Ford, who accused Kavanaugh of forcibly groping her and trying to undress her when they were both teenagers.

(An allegation, it should be said, that was disproven by reporters on the ground.) The following day, after the judge's confirmation, he spoke for American women, saying they were "outraged at what happened to Brett Kavanaugh".

An NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll released Wednesday indicated that the battle over Kavanaugh's nomination had helped Republicans close the enthusiasm gap with Democrats, who are energized by Trump's surprise win in 2016.

He was referring to the acrimonious debate over Mr Kavanaugh's nomination, after sexual assault allegations were made against him. They stupidly handed us the best issue they possibly could going into the fall election.

As protesters chanted "Shame!" and "November is coming!" police took several dozen demonstrators down the steps and put them in plastic flex-cuffs. These are the very three justices-Republican president appointed justices-who authored the Casey decision, which reaffirmed Roe. That's what they have become.

Such operations need to be within 12 nautical miles of an island or territory to constitute a challenge under global law. Navy ships during previous FONOPs in the South China Sea , but Sunday's encounter appears to the be the closest one yet.

Liberal-leaning voters failed to show up-again-and Republicans took control of the US Senate, too.

Sen. Susan Collins, whose "yes" vote turned the tide in Kavanaugh's favor, said Sunday on CNN that 'I do not believe that Brett Kavanaugh was her assailant.

Kavanaugh was administered the official Constitutional Oath and Judicial Oath by Chief Justice John Roberts and retired Justice Anthony Kennedy shortly after being confirmed by the Senate.

"I thank the members of the United States Senate".
