A high-ranking Saudi officer with ties to the crown prince overs”

The South African government has expressed concern over the disappearance of Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Turkish police have identified five suspects - four of whom have ties to the Saudi crown prince - in the investigation launched into the disappearance and alleged murder of prominent journalist Jamal Khashoggi, according to a us media report.

Khashoggi is a USA resident and columnist for the Washington Post who went into self-imposed exile a year ago after reportedly being warned by Saudi officials to stop criticizing the crown prince's policies.

President Donald Trump on Monday floated the idea that "rogue killers" were involved.

The White House would then judge whether it was credible, he said.

Gardiner says it is a complicated issue, while it's important to send a strong message that the killing of a journalist is wrong, Saudi Arabia is a strong ally to the United States. Russia hopes that the results of this investigation will be made public, Lavrov said as quoted by Russian news agency Interfax on Tuesday.

Saudi Arabia orders internal probe into Khashoggi case after worldwide pressure
Saudi Arabia insists that Khashoggi left the consulate unharmed but has not allowed Turkish investigators to enter the building. The Saudi consulate referred Reuters to authorities in Riyadh who did not respond to questions about the 15 Saudis.

On a flight later, Pompeo said Erdogan reported: "the Saudis had cooperated with the investigation that the Turks are engaged in and they are going to share information".

Three other suspects, namely Abdulaziz Mohammed al-Hawsawi, Thaar Ghaleb al-Harbi, and Muhammed Saad Alzahrani were identified as the Saudi King's security team.

Turkish crime-scene investigators searched the home of the Saudi consul general in Istanbul on Wednesday in the disappearance of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi, and a pro-government newspaper published a gruesome account of...

The report by Yeni Şafak adds to the ever-increasing pressure on Saudi Arabia to explain what happened to Mr. Khashoggi, who vanished on October 2 while visiting the consulate to pick up paperwork he needed to get married.

"The one thing we really know as a solid fact is that Khashoggi went into the consulate and he was never seen coming out again", Colville said, adding that it seemed "very probable" that some crime had been committed.

Unnamed Turkish officials said a search of the Istanbul Saudi consulate has given more evidence that the Saudi critic was killed there, the BBC reported. The secretary of state described the visit as "highly successful" and said the Saudis had promised to carry out a "thorough, complete and transparent investigation".

Saudi Crown Prince behind journalist Khashoggi's disappearance
Saudi Arabia gave no official response to the allegation that members of its security services were on the planes. Khashoggi's disappearance and to be transparent about the results of that investigation".

He said that while King Salman is revered in Saudi Arabia, the crown prince "is pulling the levers there". All of the identified individuals have since left Turkey.

Speaking on Monday, Mr Trump said Saudi leader King Salman denied "any knowledge of whatever may have happened" during a phone call.

"They have a tremendous order, $110 billion", he said, in reference to USA arms sales to the Kingdom. Before leaving Riyadh, Pompeo told reporters that the Saudi leaders "made no exceptions on who they would hold accountable".

Prince Mohammed has painted himself as the face of a new, vibrant Saudi Arabia, diversifying its economy away from reliance on oil and making some social changes. It wasn't immediately clear what they hoped to find there, although surveillance video had showed diplomatic cars moving between the consulate and the residence almost two hours after Khashoggi walked into the diplomatic post.

Khashoggi had left the country previous year amid the rise of Prince Mohammed, whom he wrote critically about in the Post.
