NASA sees Hurricane Florence open an evil-looking eye”

At around 12 p.m. EDT (1600 GMT), the National Hurricane Center (NHC) announced that Hurricane Florence had strengthened to a Category 4 storm. "Gather prepared on the East Fly, right here's a no-kidding nightmare coming for you".

Hurricane Florence, the first major hurricane in the Atlantic basin this season, will be slamming into the Eastern United States this week as a Category 4 hurricane.

1000's and thousands of americans in the path of Storm Florence are frantically preparing for a monster storm that is anticipated to glean landfall sometime early Saturday morning.

The National Hurricane Center forecasts additional strengthening for Florence before it reaches the coastline of North Carolina and SC early Friday, Sept. 14.

Nasa said the storm, now brewing above the Atlantic Ocean, had weakened to Category 1 strength, but is expected to strengthen into a Category 3 hurricane by the time it makes landfall on the U.S. mainland.
