2nd Unite the Right rally happening in Washington Sunday

2nd Unite the Right rally happening in Washington Sunday”

Saturday morning UVA President James Ryan spoke at an event reflecting on the university's response to last year's violence. Dozens of advocacy groups have come together to coordinate the counter-protests, which will include a march to Lafayette Park, the location where the white supremacists have a permit to protest. "Peace to ALL Americans!", Trump wrote on Twitter.

Around 20 demonstrators headed to a white nationalist rally walked through the heart of Washington on Sunday, cordoned by rows of police officers and outnumbered by hundreds of counterprotesters who taunted them.

"We have a huge racial problem in our city and our country", Bro said.

Susan Bro, mother of Heather Heyer, visited the site where her daughter was killed, surrounded by supporters and journalists. Virginia state troopers H. Jay Cullen and Berke M.M. Bates also lost their lives when their helicopter crashed as they were monitoring the rally.

Many white nationalists who supported and attended last year's violent rally, such as Mike "Enoch" Peinovich, a top neo-Nazi shock jock whose father is a retired University of Pennsylvania professor, have publicly distanced themselves from Kessler this time around. Authorities eventually forced the crowd to disperse, but a auto later barreled into the crowd of peaceful counterprotesters, killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer and injuring dozens more.

Sen. Bob Menendez Calls Trump's Attack on LeBron James Racist
Trump blasted James late Friday after an interview aired with CNN anchor Don Lemon in which he deemed Trump divisive. Melania is the second woman in the President's life to publicly distance herself from his opinions this week alone.

Then, hundreds of white nationalists and even more counter protesters will demonstrate near the White House Sunday.

Another far right rally is scheduled to take place this Sunday in close proximity to the White House.

"You had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides", Trump had said.

Heather Heyer, a 32-year-old paralegal and activist, was killed amid last year's violence in Charlottesville. This year they come w/ badges" and chanted "Why are you in riot gear?

The preventative measures comes one year on from the harrowing violence that gripped the city one year ago.

Palestinian teen activist Ahed Tamimi released by Israel
Thirteen days later, she was charged with alleged assault, incitement, and throwing stones at Israeli military soldiers. In Nabi Saleh, supporters welcomed Ahed home with Palestinian flags planted on the roof of her home.

"There is a beloved community here, but it's been broken the past year", Kathy Spaar said. Instead, the rally is planned for Sunday evening in Washington, where counterprotesters have already massed to counter the presence of white nationalists and other far-right groups.

"If we ignore them, they think they have won because they have had the ... playing field all to themselves".

"There's a profound difference in this year and last year and that is the heavy police presence", said Lisa Woolfork, an associate professor of English at the University of Virginia and a local organizer with Black Lives Matter.

White nationalists held a "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville a year ago, billing it as a protest over the removal of a statue honoring a commander of the Confederate Army, the losing side in the US Civil War.

Earlier this week, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and the city of Charlottesville both declared states of emergency for events in and around Charlottesville and Washington, D.C. "Or just to stop and read the messages that people have left, and kind of absorb Heather's energy, the energy of people who have written on the walls of the street there".
