Trump claims 'many good conversations' with NK

Trump claims 'many good conversations' with NK”

A bad outcome for South Korea and Japan would be Trump agreeing to a deal that removes North Korea's long-range missiles that pose a direct threat to continental United States, but leaves Kim's shorter arsenal mostly intact.

Trump did not respond to recent news reports of U.S. intelligence assessments saying Kim Jong-un's regime has been expanding its weapons capabilities after the two leaders held a historic summit in Singapore.

Images analysed by the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, California show North Korea was finishing construction on the exterior of the plant around the time Kim Jong Un held a summit with Trump last month, the report said.

NBC News and the Washington Post reported that North Korean attempts to hide nuclear work.

"The (intelligence community) doesn't assess that Kim Jong Un is acting in good faith. they're probably fed up with the fact that (Trump) and Pompeo keep publicly touting their trust in one of the most definitively untrustworthy regimes the United States has ever negotiated with", the source said.

The factory makes solid-fuel ballistic missiles, which could allow North Korea to transport and launch a missile more quickly, compared to a liquid-fuel system that requires lengthy preparation.

Slow Galaxy S9 sales end Samsung's record profit run
But guess what, Samsung hasn't been able to sell as many Galaxy S9 phones as it hoped and the company's bottom line reflects that. And that's not a surprise, considering that Samsung has copied the iPhone extensively over the years.

Washington and Pyongyang have yet to negotiate a plan for how North Korea will denuclearize.

Appearing on CBS's Face the Nation, Bolton said he did not want to comment on the reports or on "anything related to intelligence" - NBC having quoted more than a dozen senior U.S. intelligence officials and the Post four.

"He wants to understand the Russian position, but, more importantly, he wants Putin to understand our position", Bolton said.

The one-year plan is predicated on the North Koreans "rolling over and playing dead", said Joel Wit, a former State Department official who helped negotiate a 1994 agreement that temporarily froze Pyongyang's nuclear program.

Bolton said in the interview that if Pyongyang cooperated, the two countries could set out a path to dismantle the programs within a year and put the isolated nation of North Korea on target to receive sanctions relief.

"I don't read the way he conducted these meetings the same way", Bolton told Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is scheduled to travel Thursday to North Korea to speak with Kim about denuclearization.

The American president was full of praise for his "very smart" North Korean counterpart, describing their "very special bond" and a total shift in Washington's relationship with Pyongyang.

"The reports are just a good reminder of how complicated and hard it is to denuclearize the North", said Shin Beomchul, director at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies' Center for Security and Unification in Seoul.

The Trump administration said the talks made progress but would not elaborate.

"There's not any starry-eyed feeling among the group doing this", he added. "We are going to pursue this, and we will see what happens".
