Serena Williams makes Wimbledon final, 10 months after childbirth

Serena Williams makes Wimbledon final, 10 months after childbirth”

Playing in only her second grand slam event since she almost lost her life after giving birth 10 months ago, the American struck 16 winners and just seven unforced errors as she defeated the 13th-seeded German 6-2 6-4 on Centre Court.

Serena is also the third oldest woman in the Open Era to reach a Grand Slam final, and is trying to win her first Major as a new mother.

In September 2017, she gave birth to her daughter Alexis Olympia, an experience which she later described as life-threatening and detailed complications she faced from a pulmonary embolism and a host of surgeries to prevent blood clots spreading to her lungs.

"I think it's fantastic that she's even had time and made the effort [to get back to that level]", she said.

"I had a really tough delivery and I had to have multiple surgeries".

"[But] Every time I go out there, I want to I guess take a giant step forward, keep taking giant steps, but keep improving".

Williams will have history in her sights against Kerber as she tries to equal Margaret Court's record of 24 Grand Slams singles titles.

Paris, Russia, to turn French for World Cup semifinals
"I would be proud to show Titi that he chose the wrong camp", Giroud said yesterday, referring to Henry by his nickname. But Henry is neither the first nor will be the last footballer to represent one country as a player and coach another.

"Because of all the blood issues I have, It was really touch-and-go for a minute".

"This is not inevitable for me to be playing like this".

In Saturday's final, Williams, 36, will compete against another German player, No. 11 seed Angelique Kerber, herself a two-time Grand Slam champion.

"Whatever happens, honestly", Williams said, "it's an incredible effort from me".

"I certainly believe it's a strength in depth", Keothavong said.

After all the controversy about the decision to seed Williams 25th at Wimbledon despite her position at 181 in the WTA rankings, she has proved the tournament's officials were actually too conservative.

Referencing her dismal form a year ago, Kerber added, "2017 is over and I'm really happy about that". When she returned from maternity leave at Indian Wells in March, every baby step was celebrated. What she's seeded is not going to determine her winning this event.

Don't let McConnell's hypocrisy determine the Supreme Court's future
And analysts say Trump's latest pick for the court could provide the fifth vote needed to rescind Roe v. The President interviewed seven candidates from his master-list of 25 judges, the White House said.

For 29-year-old Goerges, Thursday's outing was not completely a lost cause because despite the mauling, she had finally made it to a semi-final at one of the four majors - albeit on her 42nd attempt.

However, this does not come without its problems for Williams, who says opponents always bring their best game against her. And Williams committed just four unforced errors, a key area for her.

In post-match interviews, she has talked candidly about motherhood. I couldn't even walk to my mailbox, so it's definitely not normal for me to be in a Wimbledon final. Especially at Wimbledon, where she's one victory from an eighth championship. I think that's what I was doing in the past, I was limiting myself.

"I had age [in common with Williams] and a C-section, and I certainly wasn't coming back to play tennis", said Shriver, who's at Wimbledon as an ESPN analyst.

Nearly decade older than Ostapenko, the 30-year-old's experience and patient waiting game paid rich dividends as Kerber only offered up seven mistakes from her end.

This time, she looked towards her coach Patrick Mouratoglou, family and friends quite calmly, put a hand to her heart and smiled.

Lonzo Ball could be reason the Lakers don't get Kawhi Leonard
In a testament to the closeness of James' inner-circle, there is essentially no certainty of what he'll do in free agency. However, Leonard will only reportedly sign a long-term deal with a Los Angeles team, either the Lakers or Clippers.
