UFC 224 official weigh-in - Raquel Pennington vs. Amanda Nunes”

Brazil's Amanda Nunes will defend her UFC bantamweight title for the third time on Saturday (Sunday, Manila time) as a heavy favorite on home turf against American fighter Raquel Pennington, who hasn't fought since November 2016 because of injuries.

In a bloody encounter, Brazil's Amanda Nunes stopped close friend, but divisional rival Raquel Pennington in the fifth and final round. The time of the stoppage was 2:36 of the fifth round.

The action kicks off at 6:15 p.m. ET with four bouts streaming live on UFC Fight Pass. Her corner talked her into going back out, but it was all for naught. Nunes was consistently able to use her long reach and power advantage to do damage to her opponent.

"It's sad because you could avoid something", Nunes said about Pennington's corner.

In Kabul attacked police stations
After an easing of attacks in Kabul in February, Taliban and IS militants have stepped up assaults in the city in recent months. Asam, the head of the Kabul ambulance service, who only has one name, said six people have been transferred to hospitals.

"No, no, no, no, no, no", her coach replied.

"Definitely this fight I'm going to make a statement. Unfortunately, tonight he failed". It is expected that the victor will next fight middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, assuming he takes care of business as a solid betting favorite over Yoel Romero at UFC 225 next month.

With the division lacking contenders, Nunes now finds herself up against No 2 ranked Pennington, who has not competed inside the octagaon since beating Tate at UFC 205 over 17 months ago.

"I've never fought nobody as a friend". She sent Rousey into retirement with a shocking first-round knockout in late December 2016. "I like and respect these girls so much, especially Tecia". [Tecia] used to train me. "It was very hard for me". It was the most hard in my career.

Ultimately, Nunes said that she had a job to do to defend her belt and that's exactly what she accomplished on Saturday night.

"We will have some beers as friends later tonight".

"I'm done, I want to be done", Pennington said.

According to Fightmetric, Nunes outlanded Pennington in total strikes 152-to-79.

Nunes defended her belt last September with a controversial split-decision victory over Valentina Shevchenko. The UFC has expressed interest in a potential super fight between Nunes and 145-pound champion Cris "Cyborg" Justino later this year.
