U.S. embassy staff in China alerted to possible sonic attacks

U.S. embassy staff in China alerted to possible sonic attacks”

The U.S. government issued a warning to all of its citizens in China today, after an embassy staffer reportedly suffered a mild traumatic brain injury resulting from "abnormal sensations of sound and pressure".

The cause of the injuries is now unknown, and no other employees have experienced similar symptoms at this time. Both the State Department and Chinese government are investigating the case, reports CNN; the employee began reporting symptoms late previous year, and no other American personnel are known to have experienced anything similar.

The State Department said in its Wednesday statement that anyone who experienced "unusual acute auditory or sensory phenomena" while in China should move away from the source of the noise. That evaluation found that the employee's symptoms were similar to those of someone with a head concussion or mild traumatic brain injury.

The embassy's statement provided no details regarding the location where the incident was registered, however, the contacts of the US Consulate General in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou were attached to it.

US gov't worker reports

United States diplomatic officials said they could not link the case to health issues suffered by U.S. government staff in Cuba dating back to late 2016.

The worker, who was sent to the U.S. for further evaluation, was diagnosed with a mild traumatic brain injury on May 8.

"The U.S. government is taking these reports seriously and has informed its official staff in China of this event", the message says.

"The medical indications are very similar, and entirely consistent with, the medical indications that were taking place to Americans working in Cuba", Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Wednesday during testimony in Congress.

Suspected "sonic attacks" affecting more than a dozen USA diplomats and family members in Havana beginning in November 2016 led to the U.S.

Around November 2016, USA diplomats based in Cuba started to complain of odd ailments, including dizziness, nausea and hearing problems.

CNN has reached out to China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs but has not yet received a response on this matter.

USA diplomats there experienced possible "sonic attacks", and the US eventually reduced the number of American employees there.

The fraud was allegedly perpetrated despite the circulars issued by RBI, which was in the knowledge of senior officials of PNB. The CBI has also booked former IDBI CMD Kishor Kharat, at present MD and CEO of Indian Bank, in the loan fraud case.

"The department is taking this incident very seriously and is working to determine the cause and impact of the incident", said a United States embassy spokeswoman, Jinnie Lee.

The United States a year ago made a decision to withdraw a large number of embassy staff from Cuba after diplomats stationed there complained of symptoms such as hearing loss, dizziness, tinnitus, visual difficulties, headaches and fatigue.
