Top Senate intel Dem says he supports Haspel”

Democratic Senator Joe Donnelly announced Saturday that he would vote to confirm Gina Haspel as director of the Central Intelligence Agency, virtually assuring that her nomination will be confirmed by the Senate when it is brought to a vote sometime in the next two weeks.

Haspel has been scrutinized throughout her confirmation process over her role in the CIA's detention and interrogation program.

British Telecoms group to cut 13000 jobs in major restructuring
It will pay 2.1 billion pounds into the scheme by 2020 and a further 2 billion pounds will be funded by the issuance of bonds. The job cuts will enable BT to cut costs by £1.5bn, with the restructuring expected to cost £800m.

Sen. John Hoeven has said he supports Haspel's nomination. Trump has said the country should consider using the so-called enhanced interrogation techniques.

Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia, Hillary Clinton's running mate in 2016, announced his opposition to Haspel, although he had previously voted for Mike Pompeo to head the CIA (with Haspel as his deputy director, giving her day-to-day control over the agency). John McCain, out of Washington battling cancer - additional Republicans would have to join McCain in opposing Haspel for her confirmation to be in jeopardy. At the time Haspel led a secret prison in Thailand, where during interrogation, the two suspected of terrorism were subjected to enhanced interrogation techniques, including waterboarding.

Neha Dhupia & Angad Bedi tie the knot
It is quite surprising and attractive that these best friends fell in love with each other and chose to take it further. Dhupia turned bride in a pastel pink Anita Dongre lehenga , which she paired with jewellery by the designer.

Their votes could be enough for Haspel to win a razor-thin confirmation vote, if the other 49 Republicans remain united in her favor. Most importantly, I believe she is someone who can and will stand up to the President if ordered to do something illegal or immoral - like a return to torture. Also, you do realize that torture is a crime under US and worldwide law, in addition to being heinous, immoral, etc? In many ways, her story is representative of the thousands of people at the Agency and throughout the intelligence community who serve quietly, without recognition, and often at great personal risk, in order to keep our nation safe from those who wish to do us harm.

"I have learned the hard lessons since 9-11", Haspel wrote.

Japan's Takeda to buy Shire for record $62.5B
The move comes after UK-listed Shire , a rare disease specialist, had rejected Takeda's advances four times since late March. Takeda's offer excludes Shire's oncology business-which Shire on April 16 agreed to sell to Servier for $2.4 billion .

While Kennedy said he gets death threats all the time from enemies of the United States, these threats were so menacing that the FBI investigated them. But he felt Haspel was more forthcoming in her private meetings with senators, and asked her to put in writing some of what she told them.
