No Criminal Charges in the Investigation into the Death of Prince”

Klobuchar said when Prince died on April 21, 2016, he left behind a legacy of music and made people all over the world want to dance.

There's also photos from inside Prince's Paisley Park vault and a Sinéad O'Connor police interview from May 2016 where she alleged that Prince had a history of drug use and violence towards women.

Carver County Attorney Mark Metz told reporters Thursday that Prince thought he was taking Vicodin to manage pain but had unknowingly taken counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl.

Images just released show Paisley Park as a colorful, eclectic space that was the beloved home of Prince, where the superstar had relaxed, recorded music and threw parties.

A series of photographs from the investigation showed pills bottles prescribed to Johnson, as well as a counterfeit pill that's said to contain "hazardous amounts of fentanyl", according to Minneapolis' Star Tribune, which published the pictures. Prince requested the prescriptions be written out to Johnson to protect his privacy, and Schulenberg obliged.

Prince enters and leaves a clinic in Minnetonka, shortly before he died. Schulenberg provided a prescription for clonidine, a blood pressure medication used to treat opioid withdrawal symptoms and an antihistamine similar to Benadryl. Other documents say Prince said he took one or two pills.

But a law enforcement official close to the investigation told The Associated Press that the federal investigation is now inactive unless new information comes forward. Schulenberg did so, again under Johnson's name, Metz said. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the case remains open.

Despite an extensive, thorough investigation into the musician's death, Metz has concluded: "Investigators were unable to determine how the singer obtained the counterfeit pills".
