Waymo And Jaguar Plan 20000 Autonomous I-Pace SUVs In Two Years

Waymo And Jaguar Plan 20000 Autonomous I-Pace SUVs In Two Years”

Krafcik added that the new Jaguar cars will first be used in a ride-sharing service Waymo will launch in Phoenix this year.

If driverless cars are the future, the future may have come another step closer to reality on Tuesday. Waymo has already been testing its ride-hailing service in the Phoenix metro area since late a year ago, through a program designed for residents (you need to apply online to become an "early rider").

Rather than outfitting a vehicle for self-driving technology, Waymo engineers collaborated with Jaguar's team throughout the I-Pace's development process.

The Verge reports that the new vehicles will be an autonomous version of Jaguar's recently announced electric I-Pace SUV.

Former LSU baseball star Albert Belle arrested during spring training game
Details of the alleged incident are unknown at this time, but jail records show that Belle is no longer in custody. The baseball bad boy slugged Milwaukee Brewers second basemen Fernando Vina in the face during a 1996 game.

Waymo is competing with rivals General Motors Co. and Uber Technologies Inc.to deploy such vehicles for the masses. Waymo so far has relied on these little toy cars. By the end of this year, the company's autonomous minivans will begin providing service to anyone who wants to ride in them instead of limiting service to so-called "Early Riders" participating in the tests for the program.

"(This is) the world's first, premium, electric, fully self-driving vehicle", Krafcik said.

This Jaguar deal will eventually add to Waymo's fleet of self-driving Chrysler Pacifica minivans equipped with its self-driving technology.

As Uber Technologies Inc. reels from a fatal crash involving one of its autonomous vehicles, rival Waymo is moving ahead, buying as many as 20,000 Jaguar vehicles for its robot fleet.

Israeli sentencing of Ahed Tamimi symbolises conflict
Human Rights Watch criticized Ahed Tamimi's pretrial detention, calling it "both a violation of global law and unnecessary". A year after the incident , the military prosecution closed the case and decided that Shomer would not be put on trial.

Waymo, previously Google's self-driving auto project, is going "Premium" as it teams up with Jaguar Land Rover to add "Premium" cars to its fleet, starting with a self-driving Jaguar I-Pace electric SUV.

Uber immediately suspended all testing of driverless cars and said it is "fully cooperating" with authorities.

Waymo has been working on self-driving cars since 2009 and has driven more than eight million kilometres on public roads. He said the Uber death was very sad "as is the deaths we have every day on the road from human errors and human behaviour". Waymo is also playing the long game as it looks to launch a large-scale transportation service using self-driving vehicles.
