Transgender boy wins girls' state wrestling title for second consecutive year

Transgender boy wins girls' state wrestling title for second consecutive year”

Mack Beggs, an 18-year-old senior from Euless Trinity High School near Dallas, entered the tournament in Cypress outside of Houston with an undefeated record.

Beggs, his family and many of his opponents wanted him to wrestle against male wrestlers, but state sport regulations require athletes to compete according to their birth gender.

Last season, Beggs also defeated Sanchez, 12-1, in the girls Class 6A championship past year.

Last year Beggs was the subject of a lawsuit surrounding his decision to continue to fight in female competitions, and it seems that the situation he is being placed in is unfair on both him and his competitors.

Nigeria says 110 girls unaccounted for after Boko Haram attack
We will carry the parents along on efforts we're making, " the minister addressing the parents of the missing girls. He said the government was sending more troops and surveillance aircraft to the area to help the search.

"It definitely felt different", Beggs told The Dallas Morning News' Sports Day.

But Beggs is required by rules to compete as a girl against girls, even though he's previously said he would rather wrestle boys.

"People think Mack has been beating up on girls ..." It was done to help schools determine competition, according to the UIL's deputy director Jamie Harrison. According to the Columbus Dispatch, USA Wrestling and the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency already classify Beggs as male because of her testosterone "intake". "It has more to do with skill and discipline than strength".

Much of the sentiment followed over to his state championship campaign this year, evident in a video of the win which surfaced online, revealing a mix of cheers and boos from the crowd. "It also shielded him [her] from possible social media attacks and the insults that are sometimes shouted out from the stands or from other competitors".

"But what can I tell people?" "This year, there was one forfeit".

The opposing coach and teammates had insisted the girl wrestle Beggs, but she refused, McNew said. "All I can hope for is that they come to their [senses] and realize this is stupid and we should change the policies to conform to other people in my position".

Beggs wants to wrestle in the NCAA and is entertaining a scholarship offer from an out of state school.

On Twitter, many commentators are saying it is unfair for an athlete who is taking testosterone to be competing in the female competition.

In the past, Beggs has publicly said he would love to wrestle boys-and would do so, if not for the state athletic policy. "That didn't stop me from being who I was", he said.
