Apple confirms iOS and macOS are vulnerable to 'Meltdown' and 'Specter'”

Apple this evening has officially released a statement on the Meltdown and Spectre bugs affecting ARM and Intel processors.

The post All Macs, iOS devices affected by chip security flaws - Apple warns appeared first on Vanguard News.

The security vulnerabilities apply to all modern computer processors and affect almost all computers and smartphones, leaving tech companies scrambling to find a fix.

Spain's Factory Activity Growth Moderates In December
Although the rate of inflation quickened to a 10-month high, it was modest and weaker than the long-run series average. The uptrend was driven by stronger market demand from home and global markets, Dodhia added.

Apple admitted Friday that all iPhones, iPads and Mac computers worldwide are affected by the Spectre and Meltdown processor security flaws but said no customers so far had been affected.

Apple's statement also said there are no known exploits now impacting customers. Since exploiting many of these issues requires a malicious app to be loaded on your Mac or iOS device, we recommend downloading software only from trusted sources such as the App Store. "Apple Watch is not affected by Meltdown", the company said.

Analysis of these techniques revealed that while they are extremely hard to exploit, even by an app running locally on a Mac or iOS device, they can be potentially exploited in JavaScript running in a web browser. In the case of Meltdown, Apple says it released mitigations for the exploit in the iOS 11.2, macOS 10.13.2 and tvOS 11.2 updates.

The Library of Congress is done archiving your silly tweets
There are an average 200 billion tweets sent each year, according to tracking site Internet Live Stats. It also cited Twitter's longer 280-character tweets in its decision as well.

"Intel has already issued updates for the majority of processor products introduced within the past five years", an Intel spokesperson said. The most likely way that malicious code could get on your device would be through a web browser; Apple plans to issue a fix for Safari on Macs and iOS devices in coming days that would address that threat. Apple has already released all of those updates, so if you own any of those devices, you can protect them by making sure your operating system is up-to-date.

Intel confirmed a potential security flaw in its chips causing all tech majors to rush to fix the bugs through emergency updates to supported versions.

"We're aware of this industry-wide issue and have been working closely with chip manufacturers to develop and test mitigations to protect our customers".
