Trump Calls NYC Attack A 'Horrible Act' Committed By An 'Animal'”

Shortly after the deadly attack in NY which killed at least eight people and injured several others, United States President Donald Trump said that he has ordered the Department of Homeland Security to implement tougher procedures to screen applicants who come to the United States.

"I have just ordered Homeland Security to step up our already Extreme Vetting Program", Trump tweeted in the hours after the attack that left eight people dead. "Being politically correct is good, but not for that!", Trump wrote.

Eight people were killed when a man in a rental truck ploughed along a bike path in lower Manhattan on Tuesday, in what authorities called a terrorist attack.

Bicycles and debris lie on a bike path after a motorist drove onto the path near the World Trade Center memorial, striking and killing several people in NY. "We need to first see what plan Washington would put in place before commenting on the development", a government source said on condition of anonymity. "Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected", White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders.

Donald Trump responded to the deadly attack in NY in typical fashion on Tuesday, via Twitter. Trump tweeted Tuesday night. NY police say the truck driver had been planning the attack for weeks and did it "in the name of IS".

In practice, that promise so far has been labeled "enhanced vetting", which has been implemented in regards to the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.

"What the United States does in terms of its homeland security, immigration policies and visa procedures are the sovereign right of that country".

He published a follow-up stating that the U.S. "must not allow ISIS to return" and that he was planning to "step up our already Extreme Vetting Program".

The tweets earned Trump a rebuke from British Prime Minister Theresa May, who said it is "never helpful for anyone to speculate on what is an ongoing investigation". The officials further added that the contents are being investigated and the document supported the belief the act was terrorism. "It takes a little while to get the facts", Trump said then.
