Tourists to be banned from climbing Uluru

Tourists to be banned from climbing Uluru”

Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, is in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park - that's about in the middle of the country.

Indigenous Australians have also complained about visitors urinating on the rock, potentially contaminating water sources. According to the board, only 16 per cent of visitors to the national park climbed Uluru from 2011 to 2015.

Tourists will be banned from climbing Uluru within two years.

Kurdish opponents of Barzani report attacks on offices
Although Kirkuk is outside the borders of the Kurdish autonomous region, Kurds consider it the heart of their homeland. A Kurdish official on the Syrian side of the border said access for aid workers and journalists has not been affected.

Uluru's land title was handed back to its traditional owners in 1985, but was immediately leased to the Australian federal government to be jointly managed as a national park for 99 years.

He said the Anangu people had felt intimidation over the years to keep the climb open because it was a top tourist attraction, but they wanted to close it because of its cultural significance.

"The chair of the board, traditional owner Sammy Wilson, made an impassioned speech to the board before the vote, describing the pressure he and other Indigenous people felt over the issue".

High-End Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Ti GPU Launched
We designed the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti to be an overclocking monster with plenty of headroom for gamers to crank up the clock speeds. About the only major difference is that you're still limited to "just" GDDR5 memory instead of the speedier GDDR5X on the 1080.

In a statement from the park board, Wilson said the decision was something to "feel proud about".

Signs at the start of the climb ask people to abstain from going up in respect to the traditional law of the Anangu Aboriginal people, the custodians of the land. The walking tracks on the rock could be removed, and steep fines levied for people who step on Uluru.

The board had announced in 2010 that it would close the climb once the number of visitors to Uluru who had defied the wishes of the traditional owners fell below 20%.
