Texas sheriff seeks driver with 'offensive' anti-Trump display on their truck

Texas sheriff seeks driver with 'offensive' anti-Trump display on their truck”

"F-k Trump and f-k you for voting for him", reads the sticker on the back of a GMC Sierra broadcast via Facebook by Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls.

A Texas sheriff is getting angry feedback from free speech advocates after he wrote a Facebook post, which has since been deleted, threatening charges against a driver for a profane anti-Trump sticker on the window of her truck.

"I have received numerous calls regarding the offensive display on this truck as it is often seen along FM 359", sheriff Nehls said in the Facebook post.

The owner of the truck was soon revealed to be Karen Forsenca, a mother of 12 (!) who adamantly refuses to alter her vehicle.

But what caused outrage was Nehls statement that per the station's prosecutor "she would accept disorderly conduct charges regarding it".

"It makes people happy, they smile, they stop you, they want to shake your hand", said Fonseca.

Fonseca says her main issue with the president is she disagrees with his promised border wall. She and her husband had the sticker made after Donald Trump was sworn into office.

The sheriff posted a photo of a portion of of the Texas law for "Disorderly Conduct" in the comments section "for the point of discussion".

"It's just our freedom of speech and we're exercising it", she said.

Conservatives smash Keurigs in Sean Hannity interview row

Speaking about the message, Fonseca, 46, told the Houston Chronicle: "It's not to cause hate or animosity".

The owner of a truck boasting a huge middle finger to the commander-in-chief is breaking the law, a Texas sheriff has alleged.

The sheriff appeared later to back down from that idea, saying he supports freedom of speech. But Fonseca, whose husband owns the truck, told a local ABC affiliate that the sticker has certainly attracted significant amounts of attention.

Nehls defended his post, commenting "It is important to respond to calls from residents, yes". Days later, the charges were dropped after police attorneys conceded that the stick-figure display was protected by the First Amendment.

Nehls later shared the Texas statute he was thinking of, which prohibits language that "tends to incite an immediate breach of the peace".
