Black Friday Sets Gun Background Check Request Record

Black Friday Sets Gun Background Check Request Record”

More than 200,000 background check requests were submitted to the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System across the country this Friday, USA Today reported, breaking the previous record of 185,713 requests made on the same holiday shopping day a year ago.

Black Friday has always been a popular day for deals - not just on electronics, clothes and appliances, but also semi-automatic rifles and handguns from local gun shops.

The actual number of guns is poised to be even higher: gun checks, which are federally mandated for gun purchases, are run on a single buyer and not the individual guns purchased. Analysts note gun sales are likely the higher of the two figures because customers can buy several firearms in one transaction.

HTC U11 All Set To Receive Android 8.0 Oreo Update
The smartphone was shipped with Android 7.1 in the U.S. market, which left users anticipating the update for Android 8.0 Oreo. Running HTC Edge Sense user interface, the handset comes with 8 sensors on the sides to register the squeeze.

Days before Black Friday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions directed the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to review the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.

The victims included a pregnant woman whose unborn child also died in the November 5 massacre.

Devin P Kelley was convicted of assault and discharged from the military.

Massage Envy Therapists Face Sexual Assault Allegations From Over 180 Women
Dozens of people have accused massage therapists of sexual misconduct at Massage Envy, according to a BuzzFeed report . Ingram told BuzzFeed she thinks Deiter might still be working as a massage therapist if she hadn't called police.

As reported by USA Today, the number of requests does not necessarily match the number of guns that were purchased.

Shoppers were taking advantage of discounts, but may have also been motivated by a Justice Department memo last week that directed the Federal Bureau of Investigation to review its background-checks system.

A record-setting 203,000 people underwent background checks, with 11,000 of those checks happening in Florida. However, according to USA Today, though a pro-Second Amendment president is now in the White House, "gun check numbers had leveled off in the first months of the pro-gun Trump administration".
