Trump says 'only one thing will work' with North Koreaā€¯

The president has often spoken about using military options against North Korea when necessary, and on Saturday tweeted that agreements and negotiations have made USA negotiators a fool, and that "only one thing" will work with the regime.

Mr. Trump did not make clear what that one thing was, but it was enough to grab the attention of the Korean leader. Mulvaney said it was the first he had heard about the tweet, but said every bit of it was true. The POTUS says that there is the only way to talk with North Korea, hinting about a possible military exercise.

The interview made headlines all across the Pacific Rim, and remains the leading story on the South Korean Yonhap News Agency website as of this writing.

Despite these comments, the US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, said that Washington will maintain these open lines of communication with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's government.

President Trump went further to say "We can not allow this dictatorship to threaten our nation or our allies with unimaginable loss of life", he said to his top military officers. The Asian country for long has made a mockery of the United States diplomacy. This would provide North Korea with the opportunity to both celebrate an important day on its calendar and interfere with an American holiday weekend.

However, there were expectations that North Korea would do something incendiary on the same date previous year, when the day passed without a bang. The words were seen as a sign that Pyongyang has no intention to back down from its nuclear ambitions at a time when there is broad concern North Korea could carry out a major weapons test in the near future to mark the anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party on Tuesday.
