NOAA Predicts Warmer, Drier Winter for Southern California

NOAA Predicts Warmer, Drier Winter for Southern California”

Though Southern California may be drier, much of northern California is expected to have a normal winter, leading NOAA to downplay any drought concerns.

The Climate Prediction Center has come out with an early look at the Winter Forecast for 2017-2018. Most of the northern US has at least about a 30% chance of a wetter than usual winter, while much of the southern USA has odds between about 30% and greater than 50% of a drier than usual winter.

∙ Below-average temperatures are favored along the Northern Tier of the country from Minnesota to the Pacific Northwest and in southeastern Alaska.

Amazon Debuts (Parent-Controlled) Shopping Accounts for Teens
The catch: parents will be notified of each purchase via text or email, and will, by default, have to approve or deny each one. Once you add a teen to your account, you can approve or deny every order they place, or set pre-approved spending limits.

NOAA's Climate Prediction Center calls for colder than average temperatures across the Pacific Northwest in 2017-18.

The big driver in the forecast is a La Nina weather event that is likely to develop next month.

Last winter was one of the warmest on record, and there were still a number of significant snowstorms.

Trump threatens to challenge media's broadcast licenses
Trump's reported interest in massively increasing America's nuclear arsenal also drew widespread criticism, despite his denials. The Federal Communications Commission oversees the renewal of licenses for broadcasters.

Warmer-than-normal conditions are most likely across the southern two-thirds of the continental USA and along the East Coast, including North Carolina, as well as across Hawaii and in western and northern Alaska.

The areas that fall into the unmarked sections of these maps have an equal chance of above-, near-, or higher-than-normal temperatures and precipitation levels, the NOAA says.

NOAA will update its U.S. Winter Outlook on November 16.

Kelly was elevated to the post from homeland security secretary in July. "Me personally?" the reporter questioning him asked. Bush, Ministry had long served in many stages, while duties of Congress were also included.

NOAA's winter outlook doesn't forecast snow or specific storms, but La Ninas tend to favor more storms coming from the west and north than from the Gulf of Mexico or the East Coast, he said. Although however cold, low temperatures will pale in comparison to those in the northern Plains where the mercury is set to dip to minus 30 degrees Fahrenheit at times, while the southern Plains, Southwest and California can expect a milder and drier winter than last season, according to Accuweather. Jones said northern areas of the state might just be immune from La Niña, spelling good news for ski areas and skiers themselves.
