Kelly: Barring 'change,' he's not quitting or being fired”

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly forcefully pushed back on rumors of discord between he and President Donald Trump on Thursday, telling reporters that he has no plans to resign, nor does he have reason to believe he will be fired.

"I don't think I'm being fired today", Kelly told reporters from the White House briefing room podium. And I just talked to the president.

Kelly went on to say that his only frustration is "when I come to work in the morning and I read about things that I allegedly said or think that Mr. Trump allegedly said or people who are going to be fired and it's just not true".

Making his debut public appearance before journalists Thursday, the four-star Marine Corps General dismissed reports that he was frustrated working with Trump and blasted the media for its coverage of the administration.
