Additional THAAD systems to be stationed in South Korea's United States base

Additional THAAD systems to be stationed in South Korea's United States base”

South Korea's defense ministry said the four remaining batteries of the THAAD system would be deployed on a golf course in the south of the country today. With the four additional launchers installed, U.S. Forces Korea will have a fully operational THAAD battery at its base in Seongju.

The placing of additional THAAD launchers will likely trigger an angry response from area residents and activists who have opposed the system.

The system has a radar that can see deep into Chinese territory.

THAAD will not help resolve security concerns.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned on Wednesday that the North Korean nuclear crisis can not be resolved by sanctions alone, and urged the global community not to push Pyongyang into a corner. Washington rejects the proposal; Putin insisted it "offers a genuine way to defuse the tensions and a step-by-step settlement". Moon also called for a ban on overseas North Korean workers - many of them in China and Russian Federation - who provide foreign currency to the North.

North Korea on Sunday triggered global alarm with by far its most powerful atomic test to date, claiming it was a hydrogen bomb that could be mounted onto a long-range missile.

The leaders of Russian Federation and South Korea have condemned North Korea over its latest nuclear test, but still appear far apart on the issue of stepping up sanctions against Pyongyang.

"It is clear that it is impossible to solve the problems of the Korean peninsula by sanctions and pressure alone", Putin said at the economic forum in Vladivostok, following talks with South Korean President Moon Jae-In.

Nebraska National Guard making difference in Texas
Hutchinson said he spoke Friday with Mark Hamilton Berry, adjutant general of the Arkansas National Guard, and A.J. The trucks are suitable for heavy transportation and re-supply. "Their maintenance was busting at the seams".

While North Korea claimed to possess a hydrogen bomb a year ago, seismologists refuted the claim, suggesting that the subsequent natural disaster from that nuclear test was too small to have been the product of a pure fusion weapon.

Russia, alongside China, also criticized the increase in South Korea's joint military activities with Washington as a danger to the peace and stability of the region.

The ministry said additional launchers, based on consultations between Korea and the United States, will be moved to the base along with the construction materials.
