YouTube rolls out mobile chat feature for video sharing”

"We've been experimenting with a better way to share videos on YouTube since past year", explains YouTube in a blog post.

The feature was previously only available in Canada at the beginning of the year, but is now rolling out to users globally.

The latest update of YouTube for iOS and android where it adds an another tab named 'Shared.' Tapping on this a Google Allo-like chat interface will open which will allow sharing the videos that you want with your contacts directly. The thread will serve as a chat window where you can share videos with contacts.

Over the coming weeks, YouTube will roll out new dollar icons showing the available business type.

YouTube has been testing the feature since last May, but Monday's update marks the first time the company's made its so-called "native sharing" to everyone. It also offers an option of inviting users to motivate them into using the feature.

The feature can be found built-in the YouTube app sharing button.

Some tapped into sarcasm to point out how little the feature offers, with one user writing: 'Finally, a way to share YouTube videos to people'. It's here that you can manage your contacts as well, and generate the above-mentioned direct link to invite users. Also, YouTube user can also reply for the videos they receive either with another video or even a heart. YouTube says it will continue to allow you to share videos through other apps as well.

The green and black icons make it clear which videos are totally acceptable in YouTube's eyes and which are not, however the yellow icon is a bit more nebulous.
