An airport spokesperson says the passenger was detained by a construction crew working on the airfield and had been taken into custody.

17-year-old boy jumped out of a plane during landing at the airport of San Francisco.

Passengers said the teenager seemed fidgety and anxious throughout the flight and that he had acted very quickly, making it hard to stop him, according to the Associated Press news agency. "And then this guy, I see him jump on the wing and then he starts climbing down the wing and then he just runs. And everyone was just screaming".

No runways were affected, and there was no operational impact as a result. The incident led to a two hour delay of the aircraft and reportedly cost the airlines about $16,000 in damages.
