US Diplomatic Missions In Russia Suspend Nonimmigrant Visa Operations

US Diplomatic Missions In Russia Suspend Nonimmigrant Visa Operations”

The U.S. issued about 190,000 nonimmigrant visas in Russian Federation in 2016 with close to 140,000 being issued at the Moscow embassy. As part of the suspension of non-immigrant visa operations, interviews already set up for Russians' visa applications between Wednesday and the end of the month will be cancelled.

Andrei Klimov, the head of the Federation Council's committee on state sovereignty, told the Interfax news agency on Monday that, "If there are going to be infringements on the rights of our citizens, it is crucial to take reciprocal measures against US citizens".

According to the minister, Russia's response measures will depend on the further examination of the USA decision.

Yemen people's suffering relentlessly intensified: United Nations official
Al Qaeda has exploited the conflict to try to deepen its influence in Yemen, repeatedly launching bomb and gun attacks. It said almost three-quarters of attacks on schools and hospitals " 38 of 52 " were also carried out by the coalition.

Lavrov, speaking at a joint news conference in Moscow with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, was responding to a question about a USA decision to reduce its visa services in Russian Federation after Moscow ordered the United States to sharply cut its diplomatic and technical staff. However, the necessary drastic reduction in staff is expected to slow down the embassy's work and lead to a reduction in some practical bilateral exchanges. "Therefore of course, we shall examine it additionally", Lavrov told a press conference, Sputnik reported. Lavrov said Russian Federation would do something but "won't take it out on American citizens".

"I just familiarized myself with this decision; only saw its summary in media reports". Slutsky is the chairman of the Duma's global affairs committee.

Embassy officials say the eight-day suspension of visa operations is a result of the Russian government's personnel cap imposed on the USA mission. The United States was ranked 25th of countries to which Russians citizens traveled in the first quarter or 2017, former Soviet Union republics notwithstanding. "Trips to the United States don't affect millions of Russians", Klimov, another senator, added.

Palaniswami announces inquiry into Jaya's death
He alleged that there was a quarrel at Jayalalithaa's Poes Garden home during which she was "pushed down" and collapsed. Interestingly, Dinakaran had declared on Monday that he and his family were open for any probe into the death of Amma.

The decision would come as a blow to Russian tourists, almost 250,000 of whom visited the USA last year, according to The Associated Press.

"This scenario would be like all of America suddenly only having one office in Los Angeles to process (visa applications from) New York, Chicago, DC, Boston, and Miami". "This is a very sticky situation".
