Women in the White House are paid less than their male coworkers

Women in the White House are paid less than their male coworkers”

The annual report to Congress from the Executive Office of the President, released Friday, shows that women earn an average of $84,500, compared to $105,000 for men, according a Roll Call analysis of the salary data.

CNN reported on the White House pay gap as though men and women working the same jobs are paid differently, but the fourth paragraph of their report tells a different story. The White House has not responded to CNN's request for comment. To calculate average salary, three employees reporting no earnings, including Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, and one employee whose gender CNN was unable to confirm, were excluded. But then, Ivanka is not paid a White House salary, nor is her husband, and her father is allegedly donating his pay, so why would she care?

In July 2016, the American Enterprise Institute analyzed the White House's report from that year, and found the pay disparity has increased under Trump. Among the 22 employees earning the top salary for a permanent White House employee-$179,000-only six are women. Perry also notes in his analysis that of the top 101 highest-paid White House employees, almost 75% of them are men.

Trump's White House hiring practices fit with polices he's made as president regarding the gender pay gap. In April, equal-pay advocates criticized the president for signing an executive order that rolled back a regulation meant to protect women's ability to earn the same as men.

Maryland elections officials deny Trump request for voter data
Maryland waited until Monday to announce that the state would join the growing ranks of states that are rejecting the request. He says that over the weekend, he learned that the email address provided to submit the requested voter data was insecure.

Therefore women are not making 80 cents for ever dollar paid to their male counterparts because this statement implies that women are being paid less than men for doing equal work when they are in fact doing different jobs that demand different salaries.

CNN calculated the gender gap using employee names and research.
