Two killed in Israeli embassy shooting in Jordan”

A security guard involved in an attack at Israel's embassy in Amman, Jordan, this weekend is not being allowed to leave the country - triggering a diplomatic crisis between the two nations. A second Jordanian, the owner of the building, was hit by gunfire and later died of his wounds.

Netanyahu said Israel is holding ongoing contacts with contacts with security and government officials in Amman, on all levels, "in order to bring the incident to a close as quickly as possible". This included a security guard who shot dead two Jordanians after he was attacked by one of them. The statement identified him as "a physician who was at the scene of the shooting".

The members of Israel's diplomatic mission in Amman, Jordan, including a security guard who shot and killed his teenage assailant and a bystander, are back in Israel.

The guard was reportedly wounded. Meanwhile, the Israeli army arrested numerous Hamas leaders in the West Bank on Sunday night including a former minister, an MP and five militants who had been released in an exchange of prisoners several years ago.

Daily clashes have erupted between Palestinians and Israeli security forces since the installation of detectors, resulting in the death of five Palestinians in the past week. It has always been a flashpoint of anti-Israeli protests at times of turmoil in the Palestinian territories. However, early this morning, it was revealed that Israel wanted to ban on reporting yesterday's incident to make time to question the security guard.
