Plans to share airline passenger details with Canada blocked by European court

Plans to share airline passenger details with Canada blocked by European court”

The EU's highest court has maintained a ruling that Palestinian Islamist group Hamas is a terrorist organisation, in a blow to campaigners who have called for the militant organisation to be removed from Europe's blacklist, reported the Financial Times.

In December 2014, the General Court said Hamas should be removed from the list because the EU's decision to place it on the "terror" sanctions list was not the result of an independent investigation.

In 2014, the E.U.'s General Court annulled the decision on procedural grounds.

In the 2016 recommendation, Advocate-General Eleanor Sharpston said that the European Union governments should independently present evidence on attacks perpetrated by the groups, and that information from outside countries such as the U.S. was not sufficient.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 shines in new renders
Besides, the phone will have a 6.3-inch SAMOLED Infinity display and run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835/Exynos 8895 processor. Are you excited for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8? The company has teased the launch date on Twitter in a not-so-cryptic-way.

In Wednesday's ruling, the Luxembourg-based ECJ said decisions by the competent authorities were only required for the initial listing of groups or individuals.

ECJ Advocate General Eleanor Sharpston in September joined those demanding Hamas be dropped from the "terror" list.

Hamas first appealed its placement on the EU's terrorism list in 2010.

The listing is important because it keeps various Hamas funds frozen, limits Hamas from openly doing business in the European Union and limits the mobility of Hamas-affiliated persons.

Notorious 86-Year-Old International Thief Doris Payne Arrested Again
When asked about her exploits in a 2016 interview with the Associated Press, she said simply: "I was a thief". Payne was most recently accused of stealing a $2,000 diamond necklace from a store at Perimeter Mall .

But he added that "exchanges of information such as PNR are critical for the security of our citizens, and the European commission will do what is necessary to ensure they can continue in accordance with the court's opinion and in full respect of fundamental rights".

Hamas, the de facto government of Gaza since 2006, has been listed as a proscribed organisation since 2001, following the 9/11 attacks in the United States.

Neither Hamas nor Israel had an immediate reaction.
