Pistons renounce rights to Kentavious Caldwell-Pope after Bradley tradeā€

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN is reporting that if Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is willing to ink a one-year deal, the Lakers would have significant interest in signing him to such a contract.

After acquiring Avery Bradley via trade, the Detroit Pistons announced that they are renouncing Caldwell-Pope, which means that he's up for grabs in the free agent market. He was too far down the priority list for the Celtics to be that team to offer him the contract he'll command, but the Pistons will get Bradley for a year and will have the opportunity to make him a big offer. The 24-year-old will have a robust market that could include the Brooklyn Nets, assuming the Wizards match Otto Porter's signing sheet, as well as the Los Angeles Lakers if he chooses to pursue a short-term deal.

Both Thomas and Froome are fine, Team Sky said. "There was a crash in front of us and again I had nowhere to go". Marien said they were applying UCI race rules that allow them to disqualify riders in "serious cases".

Caldwell-Pope was a restricted free agent heading into this offseason, meaning that the Pistons could match any offer made to their former 2013 first-round pick by another team.

While picking up someone of Bradley's ilk could quiet naysayers, losing Caldwell-Pope after just four seasons is still a rather tough blow. He averaged 14.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 79 games with the Pistons last season.

Maryland elections officials deny Trump request for voter data
Maryland waited until Monday to announce that the state would join the growing ranks of states that are rejecting the request. He says that over the weekend, he learned that the email address provided to submit the requested voter data was insecure.

Caldwell-Pope's pick-and-roll defense could still use some work, but considering he won't turn 25 until February and has proved capable of making developmental strides, he's a worthy gamble for teams in need of perimeter reinforcements.
