Uber CEO Travis Kalanick Takes Leave Of Absence Amid Company's Turmoil”

The chief executive of ride-sharing service Uber said Tuesday he will take an indefinite leave of absence from the company as it has come under increasing pressure over sexual harassment allegations and concerns about its workplace culture.

- Kalanick said his direct reports will be running the company, and he will be available as needed for the most strategic decisions.

Uber's board met Sunday with Holder and consultant Tammy Albarran to discuss the findings and "unanimously voted to adopt all the recommendations" of the report, according to the source.

Uber also released the recommendations of a months-long investigation led by the law firm of former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder who was retained by Uber to look into company culture and practices.

What's more, even when Kalanick returns, his responsibilities would likely be reduced, The board has chose to accept all of the recommendations presented before it and among them, was one which said that Kalanick's responsibilities should be reduced and a COO found as soon as possible.

Qatar signs $17b deal for USA jets amid Gulf crisis
British foreign secretary Boris Johnson urged Gulf states including Saudi Arabia to ease their blockade of Qatar on Monday. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu is due to visit Saudi Arabia on Friday in an attempt to help solve the crisis.

The recommendations may introduce major changes at Uber, a company that has always been fueled by partying and lavish employee retreats that have involved heavy drinking, drugs, and sex.

Keep executives accountable. Use performance reviews and compensation to hold Uber's leaders accountable.

This could be achieved, in part, by restructuring the board to include additional independent board seats, the report suggests. Last week, the company fired 20 people including some managers at the recommendation of Perkins Coie, which separately probed specific complaints made to the company about sex harassment, bullying, and retaliation for reporting problems.

Some of Kalanick's responsibilities will go to an as-yet-unnamed chief operating officer.

The company also changed the name of its "War Room" to the "Peace Room", but most importantly it will seek to gain a new COO and limit Kalanick's influence with the company.

Enzo Amore Wants To Knock Out Conor McGregor
While McGregor is known as a striker who prefers to fight on his feet, it's not easy to replicate a lifetime of boxing experience. Not every UFC fan will pony up to see him challenge boxing's biggest mouth, but plenty will.

Uber's valuation has climbed to almost $US70 billion ($A93 billion).

Uber recently hired Harvard Business School's Frances Frei as senior vice president of leadership and strategy, and will add Nestle SA's Wan Ling Martello as an independent director.

Kalanick announced his leave on Tuesday shortly after Uber published the results of the investigation into sexual harassment and workplace culture, which was prompted by Fowler's complaints.

Uber could create an employee diversity advisory board, which would "ensure consistency across diversity efforts and funnel input and ideas to the Head of Diversity".
