@SenatorWicker Votes to Strengthen Sanctions Against Iran, Russia

The U.S. Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly passed new sanctions on Iran and Russian Federation and put a limit on the White House's ability to roll back any Russian Federation sanctions.

The lone dissenters on the bill were Sens. Republican Senator Rand Paul and Bernie Sanders, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, were the only two "no" votes.

"The legislation sends a very, very strong signal to Russian Federation, the nefarious activities they've been involved in", Sen.

Obama's former secretary of state, John Kerry, had raised that prospect on the eve of the Foreign Relations Committee's vote on the bill last month.

"Today the United States Senate is asserting its responsibilities as it relates to foreign policy", Corker added on the Senate floor. Ben Cardin (D-MD).

Well, maybe to be voted the world's top player again, just for good measure? "I have a year left in my contract and I think that I'll be here the next year".

On the eve of the U.S. Senate has approved an amendment to expand sanctions against Russian Federation.

That's a realistic threat, despite confidence from Israeli lobbyists that it would not, as the bill was largely an attempt to sneak sanctions the U.S. was obliged to lift from Iran as part of the nuclear deal back in as part of punishing Iran for "non-nuclear" actions, and those leading the charge were opponents of the P5+1 deal in the first place. John Thune (R-SD).

"If we can not make some progress, and I have told others in the Senate, I have had conversations with them, I may very well be coming to you and saying the time has come now to do this in order to motivate some movement on their part".

Senate Democrats expressed concerns to Politico that the extremely busy news cycle related to the investigations surrounding Russian Federation and Trump may ironically allow the administration to block or stall this legislation created to punish Russian Federation.

The bipartisan support for the year's most significant GOP-backed limitation on Trump comes as the White House remains silent on the plan to sanction Moscow, even as President Putin pushes back at US intelligence officials' conclusion that Russian actors conducted cyberattacks to disrupt the 2016 presidential election. The bill, which passed 98-2, includes an array of penalties aimed at choking off the vast financial networks that USA lawmakers say Moscow and Tehran need to sustain their destabilizing behavior.

Jeremy Corbyn enjoys kickabout as politics takes a backseat
Last month, he called the Trump administration "erratic", saying that he wouldn't "pander to it" under a Labour government. Now enraged Tory MPs are reportedly plotting to dislodge wounded Mrs May from No10 in a ruthless bid to revamp the party.

"You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history", the President wrote on Twitter.

The Senate maintains that the Iran sanctions that target its ballistic missile programme, destabilizing activities in the region and support for terrorist groups do not violate the Iran nuclear deal, which saw an easing of other sanctions.

As for those opposed to the measure, Sen.

House Republicans are expected to review the Senate-passed sanctions bill in the coming weeks, an aide told Politico. "It is unacceptable for Russian Federation to interfere in our elections here in the United States, or anywhere around the world". "But I believe that these new sanctions could endanger the very important nuclear agreement that was signed between the United States, its partners and Iran in 2015".
