Senate hearing on Russia investigation underway

Senate hearing on Russia investigation underway”

But if we look closer, both Daniel Coats, the director of national intelligence, and Adm. Mike Rogers, the head of the National Security Agency, left open the possibility that Trump asked them to push back or intervene in an FBI investigation - they just didn't feel pressured to do anything about it.

"What we don't seem to have is the same commitment to find out whether the president of the United States tried to intervene with members of the Intelligence Community and asked them to back off or downplay (the Russian Federation investigation)", Warner told the witnesses.

The members of the Senate Intelligence Committee had one question they asked again and again Wednesday of the country's intelligence chiefs: Did President Trump want you to downplay investigations surrounding Russian Federation?

"I have never felt pressure to intervene, interfere in any way for shaping intelligence in any way", Coats said at one point.

Coats also said that if he is called before an investigative committee, such as the Senate Intelligence Committee, "I certainly will provide them with what I know and what I don't know". But Coats held his ground, saying "I do not share with the general public conversations that I had with the president or with many of my colleagues within the administration". Mark R. Warner's, D-Va., question of whether Trump sought his aid in downplaying the investigation.

OECD Says Global Growth 'Better But Not Good Enough
The world economy is projected to grow 3.5 percent this year, the Paris-based think tank said in its semi-annual Global Economic Outlook report.

In their testimony, Rogers and Coats are doing an awfully good job of not answering the Senators' questions - even the GOP members who are trying to get Trump off the hook.

"I am not going to discuss the specifics of interactions that I may or may have not had with the President", Rogers said, adding he has never felt pressured to do anything unethical.

Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe is also scheduled to testify.

The New York Times has reported that on February 14, the day after firing his national security director, Trump told Comey, "I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go".

That may come as a relief to a White House that has been buffeted by a seemingly never-ending stream of controversial revelations, from allegations that the president attempted to influence the investigation into former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn to reports of internal divisions within the administration. Like Coats, Rogers refused to comply with the president's request.

'A long, strange trip': Thad Matta out as Ohio State coach
Coupled with Matta's well-known health issues, that was enough for the Buckeyes to decide hiring a new coach in June made sense. The 49-year-old Matta also took OSU to the Final Four in 2007 and 2012, falling in the championship game to Florida in '07.

USA intelligence agencies believe Russian Federation interfered in the U.S. election and they are investigating alleged links between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, the second-ranking official at the Department of Justice who signed a letter recommending Comey's dismissal, will testify a day ahead of Comey's own hotly anticipated testimony.

But Winner's alleged leaking of the report is bound to give committee Republicans a stronger foothold to ask questions than the hearing topic or any of Trump's tweets.

The president planned to host governors and mayors at the White House on Thursday to discuss the use of tax dollars for infrastructure projects.

Trump's surrogates may have said earlier this week that the President will not block Comey from testifying by claiming executive privilege.
