Prosecutors: Contractor wanted to 'burn the White House down'”

The arrest came shortly before The Intercept published an alleged May 5 intelligence report from the National Security Agency that describes two cyberattacks carried out by Russian government hackers that attempted to infiltrate US voting systems a week before the 2016 presidential election.

Victor pleaded not guilty to a charge of willful retention and transmission of national defense information in federal court in Augusta, Georgia.

Victor remained locked up Tuesday, June 6 on federal charges that she made copies of classified documents containing top-secret material and mailed them to an online news organization.

Winner's attorney said she intends to plead not guilty, NBC News reported on Wednesday.

The indictment was filed late Wednesday in the U.S. District Court in Augusta where victor, 25, is expected to appear for a detention hearing this afternoon.

The Intercept's report described new details about Russian efforts to hack voting systems in the United States a week prior to the 2016 presidential election.

The Intercept said in a statement on Tuesday that it received the NSA document from an anonymous source and did not know its identity, but that the government has told news outlets it was victor.

Winner's Attorney, Titus Thomas Nichols, said in an interview that his client was a "good person" and will remain in federal custody until Thursday. But the Justice Department didn't announce her arrest until Monday - the same day The Intercept published a report on the document. She could also face a fine of up to $250,000.

"I'm terrified. I'm terrified that she's not going to be treated fairly and that they're going to try to make an example of her and that's not fair". Solari alleged that in recorded phone calls to her sister from the detention center, victor planned how to defend herself.
