Opposition parties including Congress target Amit Shah over comment on Mahatma Gandhi

Opposition parties including Congress target Amit Shah over comment on Mahatma Gandhi”

Describing the Congress as a party that was never set up on the basis of any ideology, BJP president Amit Shah said the party was launched as a special goal vehicle to secure Independence.

"The BJP president has insulted Mahatma Gandhi, the Independence movement and those who bravely fought for the independence by calling them businessman in context with the freedom struggle", Congress spokesman Randeep Surjewala said. Congress didn't have any ideology or set of principles and it was only used as a special objective vehicle to secure freedom. And that is why Mahatma Gandhi had foresight, he was a very clever baniya, he knew what would happen in the future.

"We demand that Amit Shah, BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologise to the country, the families of freedom fighters and every citizen for insulting the freedom movement".

Ligue 1: Wenger urges Mbappe to choose wisely
It's a little early, a little premature to say that he will win it, but, yes, he is part of the potential Ballons d'Or.

BJP is today acting like the same special goal vehicle for certain "corporate houses" and taking care of their business interests, added Surjewala.

JD-U Spokesperson Neeraj Kumar told the media that Shah had insulted the nation and its people by using a "caste" name to address Mahatma Gandhi.

When contacted, Guha, the author of "India After Gandhi", strongly reacted to the comment made by Shah at an event in Raipur yesterday. "He had said this because the Congress had no ideology, was not formed based on a principle, and did not have any principle to run the country or government", the BJP President was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

Storm Lashes South Africa, Eight Killed
South African Weather Service communications director Hannelee Doubell said people should not take the warnings lightly. Around 700 structures have been affected by flooding, according to the City of Cape Town's Disaster Management.

While West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee termed the comments "uncalled for and unethical", CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy demanded that Shah seeks an apology for making the "derogatory" remarks.

Taking a dig at Congress, Shah said the party lacks ideology and was just a vehicle for the road of independence.

"Gandhiji is the father of the nation and he is an icon of the world". Addressing a gathering in Raipur on Friday, Shah had also referred to Mahatma Gandhi as a "bahut chatur baniya" (a very clever baniya).
