Opposition parties including Congress target Amit Shah over comment on Mahatma Gandhi”

Describing the Congress as a party that was never set up on the basis of any ideology, BJP president Amit Shah said the party was launched as a special goal vehicle to secure Independence.

"The BJP president has insulted Mahatma Gandhi, the Independence movement and those who bravely fought for the independence by calling them businessman in context with the freedom struggle", Congress spokesman Randeep Surjewala said. Congress didn't have any ideology or set of principles and it was only used as a special objective vehicle to secure freedom. And that is why Mahatma Gandhi had foresight, he was a very clever baniya, he knew what would happen in the future.

"We demand that Amit Shah, BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologise to the country, the families of freedom fighters and every citizen for insulting the freedom movement".
