Israel launches air raid on Syria in return for fire: Army”

Aerial video footage released by the Israeli military purporting to show the strikes showed a machine gun and two tanks targeted and hit.

According to Syrian media, two people were killed in the Israeli attacks, which followed errant fire from the Syrian side across the border with Israel.

"Due to the unacceptable breach of Israeli sovereignty, an official protest has been filed with UNDOF", the IDF said on Saturday.

It also reported fierce fighting between forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and rebels in Quneitra.

Israel rigorously guards the western part of the Golan Heights, which it captured from Syria during the 1967 Six-Day War.

The IDF reportedly stressed that it views Damascus as "ultimately responsible for what is happening in its territory".

Israel hasn't played an active role in the war in Syria, but has responded in the past when the fighting spilled over across the Syrian border.
