Slamming the opposition after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi was denied to visit riot-hit Saharanpur, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday asserted that the former is a master in political tourism and photo ops which is why he made a decision to visit Saharanpur.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday appealed to the people of the state to not to pay heed to any inflammatory speeches spread by "certain elements".

No official reason has been cited for the action, but it is believed that the top officials were removed after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed displeasure as they could not control the situation in Saharanpur district.

The administration's move did not go down well with the Congress party which said "nothing will be able to stop us".

Former union minister Kumar Shailja and senior Congress leader P.L. Punia were denied permission to visit Saharanpur.

"Since the Bharatiya Janata Party has come to power in the state, law and order has deteriorated massively", Yadav told ANI.

Meanwhile, a four-member team led by Home Secretary Mani Prasad Mishra and comprising ADG (Law and Order) Aditya Mishra, IG STF Amitabh Yash and DIG (Security) Vijay Bhushan reached Saharanpur late on Tuesday night.

On May 5, one person was killed and 16 people, including a head constable, were injured in clashes between the Dalits and the Rajputs in Shabbirpur and Simlana villages. Putting an end to all criticism on his handling of the Saharanpur clashes, Rahul Gandhi is now expected to meet affected Dalit families.

Earlier in the day, Saharanpur District Magistrate Nagendra Parsad Singh was sacked over the administration's failure to curb clashes between the two communities.
