Justice Karnan may be 'hiding' in Nepal or Bangladesh”

The five-judge bench headed by J S Khehar comprised of Justices Kurian Joseph, U U Lalit, Abdul Nazeer, and R F Nariman.

"Since the incidents of contempt include public statements made by Justice C.S. Karnan, which are being published by the electronic and print media, we are of the view that no further statements made by him should be published hereinafter", the Bench ordered.

Advocate Mathews J Nedumpara, who mentioned the plea before the apex court bench, was asked by J S Khehar about his whereabouts. But even as the Kolkata police tried to carry out the SC order and arrest Justice Karnan on Wednesday, he was nowhere to be found.

The Calcutta High Court judge was sentenced to six months' jail on Tuesday by the Supreme Court - a first in the history of Indian judiciary.

The judge had left Kolkata for Chennai just a few hours before the apex court order. Shortly afterwards a high-level team from West Bengal Police flew into the city to arrest and take him as the court had directed that he should be jailed in the Calcutta high court jurisdiction area.

In his appeal, Justice Karnan has challenged the Constitutional validity of contempt of court act and said that he has been convicted without any charges being framed. Police sources said the team went to Tada after his mobile signal was last picked up near the Andhra Pradesh town close to the Tamil Nadu border.

Paul Pogba returns for Manchester United against Celta Vigo
Arsenal beat Manchester United 2-0, a win that might be the most pyrrhic in recent history. When the dust settles on the 2016-17 season, it will not be remembered as a classic.

To this, the CJI asked, "Where is Karnan?"

It was a landmark ruling, as it is for the first time ever that a sitting High Court judge has been sentenced.

Justice Karnan has approached the Supreme Court against his conviction and six-month jail term.

James scores 35, Cavs take 3-0 lead with 115-94 victory
Toronto was outscored 36-17 in the quarter, as Cleveland - led by LeBron James - pranced towards a commanding 3-0 series lead. All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry missed the game with an ankle injury, leaving a gaping hole in Toronto's attack.

Justice Karnan had alleged this was done because he is a Dalit.

The top court on Tuesday also barred the media from publishing the contents of "orders" passed by Justice Karnan. A recalcitrant Karnan had on February 15, 2016 stayed his transfer order, which was suspended by the Supreme Court.
