Unite leadership candidate Gerard Coyne suspended from job

Unite leadership candidate Gerard Coyne suspended from job”

Hours before the tweet, a Labour peer compared the behaviour of the union to the North Korean regime following Coyne's suspension just hours after ballot boxes were closed.

His main rival Gerard Coyne received 53,544 votes, while Ian Allinson came third with 17,143 votes.

Mr Coyne was criticised by Mr McCluskey for being too close to a number of Labour MPs in the West Midlands who opposed Mr Corbyn's leadership.

Len McCluskey has been re-elected leader of the Unite union in a result that will be greeted with relief by supporters of Jeremy Corbyn. If Coyne had won, he would have piled pressure on the Labour leader from the off - particularly if the party does as badly in the snap election as the polls are suggesting.

Trump Directs Review of H-1B Visas
The Trump administration rolled out policy shifts earlier this month to begin cracking down on the H-1B visa system. The order also asks several leaders in the Trump administration to suggest reforms to the H-1B visa program.

One suggestion is that Mr Coyne was suspended for making defamatory claims in his campaign leaflets, while another is that he spoke at a meeting in the Commons organised by moderate Labour MP Chuka Umunna.

On Thursday Mr Coyne was suspended from his role as Unite's West Midlands Regional Secretary, pending an investigation into "certain issues" according to an email sent to Unite members and staff in the area.

The campaign, which has been running for several weeks, has been bitter, with personal and policy attacks from all sides.

Quinn wrote: "The investigation is, of course, being conducted under procedure, and it should not be assumed that any offence has necessarily been committed".

Google Earth gets revival with tools for exploration
Google says they're introducing something called Voyager which will bring "a showcase of interactive guided tours" to users. Google has also added Knowledge Cards to Earth, allowing you to get more information about the places you're interested in.

A spokesman for Gerard Coyne- who serves as West Midlands regional secretary - declined to comment last night.

Unite, which is the Labour's biggest financial backer, has considerable influence within the party.

Coyne has accused McCluskey of wasting Unite money with his central London flat, while McCluskey has responded in kind by alluding to Coyne's "mansion". "You will appreciate that it is not possible to comment further on this matter".
