Trump's son-in-law to be questioned over Russian links by USA senate investigators

Trump's son-in-law to be questioned over Russian links by USA senate investigators”

As a starting point, we have to understand that a White House scandal is never good for the president's party, so partisans' first impulse will always be to minimize it and circle the wagons around Trump.

Nunes dismissed Schiff's call and House Speaker Paul Ryan said Nunes would continue as chairman, though it's hard to see why the Republicans would want him to. Democrats have said Republican Mr Nunes, who was a member of Trump's transition team can no longer run a credible investigation in to allegations of Russian hacking and involvement in the U.S. election.

The Senate intelligence committee is also conducting an investigation into Russia's interference in the election and possible ties with the Trump campaign.

The Washington Post first reported on the letters from Yates' attorney. The missives were posted online and a person familiar with the situation confirmed them as authentic to The Associated Press.

The Trump administration is refusing to provide details Tuesday to who signed House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes into offices on White House grounds, as the House investigation into Russia's interference in the USA elections is stalled, the victim of a partisan showdown. There's nothing inherently improper about that - after an avalanche of accusatory leaks against him, go figure that Trump and his team might want to do a little leaking themselves - but again, as the head of a Committee that's pursuing an investigation that may implicate people in the White House, it's weird that Nunes would call his own independence into question by doing the White House that favor.

When he played the 12th on Tuesday, in front of a large gallery but merely for practice, it was on his mind again. The 2014 ANA Inspiration victor made three birdies on her opening nine and added a birdie on the par-5 11th hole.

Trump will meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi at the White House next Monday, the White House says.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will press this week for North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies to demonstrate a "clear path" to increase defense spending, a State Department official tells reporters, speaking on condition of anonymity. She had previously told the Trump campaign that security advisor Michael Flynn may have left himself vulnerable to blackmail attempts from Moscow after lying about conversations with the Russian Ambassador to Washington.

According to a series of letters published by the Washington Post on Tuesday, the White House could be construed as having attempted to prevent Yates from testifying at Monday's hearing. He was hopelessly compromised even before his midnight jaunt to the Rose Garden or wherever on "the White House grounds" he was roaming before babbling into the microphones about how Barack Obama's mad ninja black-ops skillz were bedeviling the new president.

Yates was scheduled to testify this week before the House Intelligence Committee, but Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) canceled the hearing.

Democrats are playing up reports that Nunes was on the White House grounds shortly before making the bombshell announcement, which bolsters Trump's claims that Obama had spied on him during the presidential campaign.

Fed minutes reveal debate over inflation and Trump
In their discussion of the path of interest rates, officials supported a gradual pace of rate hikes but said they could change their mind if the economy unexpectedly heated up.

Nunes would not name the source of the information, and his office said he did not intend to share it with other members of the committee. The House Intelligence chair did not help matters when he admitted that he informed Trump about his surveillance evidence before briefing his committee out of a sense of "duty" to the president, whom he described as a victim of "relentless" Democratic attacks. She said his actions raise questions about whether the panel's investigation can be unbiased and independent.

"If you become a White House whisperer, you are not independent", she said.

Because, he replied while pointing out the obvious, the chairman of the intelligence committee is cleared to see classified material.

"At least for the Russian Federation investigation or issues involving the transition team", Schiff said, "it would benefit the public if on those two areas, he recuse himself".

Nunes revealed that he'd seen secret documents that suggested Trump and his aides had been swept up in US surveillance of foreign targets.

The General Motors Company (GM) Rating Reiterated by Evercore ISI
Sales for the month fell 1.6 percent to just over 1.55 million vehicles, surprising analysts who expected a small increase. But that's being offset by falling auto sales, pushing overall sales for Honda and Ford down compared with a year ago .
