O'Reilly advertisers risk reputation, but viewers remain

O'Reilly advertisers risk reputation, but viewers remain”

President Donald Trump weighed in on the debate yesterday in an interview with The New York Times, telling the paper "I don't think Bill did anything wrong".

O'Reilly has made headlines this week after a report from the New York Times revealed that five women that accused him of sexual harassment received a total of $13 million for agreeing not to pursue litigation or discuss their accusations.

Trump said that he didn't think O'Reilly should have settled with the women involved.

Waters took issue with Trump's statement, saying, "You know the president is over there talking today about Susan Rice going to jail".

Cable giant Comcast offers cellular plans on Verizon network
Comcast is focused on selling to its 29 million customers so marketing, distribution, servicing and other expenses are lower. Bloomberg reports that Charter, which recently bought Time Warner Cable, plans to launch a wireless service in 2018.

If this news cycle dies fairly quickly, then I think we won't see much change at Fox News.

The Fox News anchor apologized after joking that he could not focus on the substance of Waters' criticism of Trump because O'Reilly was distracted by her "James Brown wig".

Advertisers including Jenny Craig, GlaxoSmithKline, Mitsubishi Motors, BMW and Ainsworth Pet Nutrition have all moved ads slated to run during "Factor" to other Fox News programs. O'Reilly hasn't admitted any wrongdoing.

But recent news of 21st Century Fox's multi-million dollar settlements surrounding sexual harassment claims against O'Reilly's has caused many companies to pull their ads from the show's slot. On Thursday, more than 40 companies had said they weren't running commercials on O'Reilly's show, according to CNN, which has maintained a count. Ironically, or perhaps relatedly, reports indicate that Fox renewed O'Reilly's contract in the midst of all of this, which may have actually helped provoke more outrage. "But it's all catching up with Bill O'Reilly and that sexual harassment enterprise that they created over there at Fox". Fox stands to lose $446 million in advertising revenue.

Georgetown hires Patrick Ewing as men's basketball coach
Ewing is coming full circle to the school that catapulted him and that molded him as a basketball player. If finalized, Ewing's hire would send ripples across the Big East Conference recruiting landscape.

Brzezinski called Trump's remarks about the Fox News Host "disgusting". Rush Limbaugh was able to survive a similar advertiser revolt a few years ago, but his show has never been the same and I firmly believe that is part of what set up his shocking sell-out to Trump during the primaries.

Fox has "treated women very badly", Waters said, adding that she supported a criminal investigation of the matter.

Fox News didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Separately, the securities fraud division of U.S. Attorney's office in NY is investigating how 21st Century Fox handled the scandal.
