The 35-year-old actress praised her co-star and ex-boyfriend while chatting with ET's Lauren Zima at the premiere of Gifted on Tuesday night.

He's just an absolutely, really giving performer and a wonderful actor. "It's a delight, a total delight". In the inspirational film, McKenna plays Mary, a girl who is super intelligent, child prodigy, and gets the change to attend a prestigious private school but her uncle Frank, played by Chris Evans, doesn't want to her to go.

Since her split from Evans, Slate has been very open about her love life, telling ET, "I think the only way for me to be is just how I am". She was nothing if not effusive in complimenting her ex - and, shortly after, he returned the favor, calling Slate his "favorite person" in an interview with People magazine. "I feel a kinship with kids", Evans joked.

Posing for photos on the red carpet at the premiere of their new movie, "Gifted", Slate and Evans publically reunited for the first time since splitting up earlier this year.

She said: "I don't mind talking about him at all". I sit in my window and I say "Hi" to people on the street. "We were always singing on set ... he's a really great guy, he's so much more than Captain America". "I'm mostly a cartoon".

Slate opened up about the breakup in a recent profile in NY magazine, laying the whole saga on the table. I think Frank kind of has a lot of guilt and shame.
