Escape of cattle from St. Louis slaughterhouse spurs roundup

Escape of cattle from St. Louis slaughterhouse spurs roundup”

Omar Hamdan with Star Packing Company says an open gate at the slaughterhouse allowed the kosher heifers to slip free - the first such escape Hamdan says he's seen in more than 40 years in the business.

One of the cattle was captured at 14th and Destrehan Street; two others at Little Sisters of the Poor in a fenced-in area; and three were in another area near 20th Street and Bremen Avenue.

It took animal control officers and Humane Society staff about four hours to capture all six of the escaped cattle.

Premier League strugglers Swansea and Middlesbrough draw 0-0
Boro's threat was also fleeting in a first period which started brightly but quietened down as both teams began to settle. Injured pair Gaston Ramirez and Fabio could both be doubts for that game after being forced off at the Liberty Stadium .

A herd of cattle made their great escape in north St. Louis, and now people are trying to make their next escape last the rest of their lives.

"It's just so incredibly sad".

New York-based Farm Sanctuary and an animal-rescue organization in New Jersey are offering to take in the renegade bovines.

Derrick Rose Suffers Torn Meniscus
Those close to Rose expect him to be at full health two months after the surgery, which will be scheduled shortly. Derrick Rose is done for the season after an MRI discovered a small tear in his meniscus.

"If anyone wants to buy them", he told the Post-Dispatch, "that's fine".

Asked about Hamdan's offer to sell the crafty cattle, Coston said the farm doesn't pay for any animals.

That's prompted a vegetarian man from suburban St. Louis to launch an online fundraising push to buy the animals' freedom.
