Burger King tricks Google Assistant with clever and creepy ad

Burger King tricks Google Assistant with clever and creepy ad”

Arguably one of the Google Assistant's best features is the ability to respond hands-free.

If a viewer has the Google Home assistant or an Android phone with voice search enabled within listening range of the TV, that last phrase - "Hello Google, what is the Whopper burger?" - is meant to trigger the device to search for Whopper on Google and read out the finding from Wikipedia.

As we confirmed earlier, the company played no role in the ad - and likely wants to stay out of the fray as much as possible following recent annoyance around its decision to use the device to play commercials for the new Beauty and the Beast film. "But I've got an idea". "OK Google, what is the Whopper burger?"

Not as warm, but still mild this afternoon with sunshine
EASTER SUNDAY: Rain showers and thunderstorms will be possible for Easter Sunday , mainly for the afternoon and evening hours. Overview: Mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures return for Thursday and Friday , with high temperatures around 80 degrees.

Pepsi has dominated the headlines over the last week for having the country's most irritating and offensive TV advertisement, but Burger King has now taken the mantle with an ad that includes a command to wake up voice-activated Google Home devices.

The campaign hasn't gone as smoothly as planned.

Burger King's new ad is an interesting and very modern commercial, even if it only briefly worked as intended.

Mr. T insists he wasn't 'booted' off 'Dancing With the Stars'
T had a huge smile on his face, instead of the look of thunder he had while waiting for the decision. Goodman said it was her best dance so far, and Hough saw an emotional breakthrough by Biles.

Google wasn't involved in the ad's creation.

Spamming people with search results for flame-broiled burgers is not what Google had in mind with when it launched the device, and the Burger King commercial, which is the work of the ad agency David, was not done in partnership with Google.

Burger King is an especially aggressive company when it comes to marketing - once pricing its 10-piece chicken nuggets at $1.49, or combining Cheetos and macaroni and cheese in stick form. Affected devices will then read what a Whopper is from Wikipedia. In January, a San Diego TV station reported on a story that a six-year-old had mistakenly ordered a dollhouse by talking to the Amazon Echo device.

South Africans hold nationwide protests against Zuma
Syriana Maesela, 65, a retiree was on her way by train to Pretoria to join the march carrying a South African flag. A no-confidence vote on the president has been scheduled for April 18.

The Burger King ad caught the attention of New York Times journalist Farhad Manjoo, who concluded that such advertising would also pose a problem for Amazon, whose "Echo" virtual-assistance devices have sold in the millions. "We think about our guests' perception and their perspective on how we interact with them, but on balance we felt this was a really positive way to connect with them".
