ACC brings football title game back to North Carolina, extends contract

ACC brings football title game back to North Carolina, extends contract”

Greensboro was chosen as the second North Carolina site to host the Division I Men's Basketball Championship in 2020 at the Greensboro Coliseum.

The NCAA announced Tuesday it will return postseason competition to North Carolina after the state repealed its controversial HB2 law bill late last month, despite continued protests against the repealed law. It had stripped North Carolina of NCAA men's basketball games and six other championship events this season and said it could relocate more if there wasn't a change in the "bathroom bill".

Greensboro will host the first and second round of the 2019 and 2020 men's basketball tournament, according to the NCAA.

The ACLU, which has been conducting a write-in campaign to hammer NCAA president Mark Emmert for this nakedly hypocriitcal act and has submitted a public records request to various cities in North Carolina to find out what-if anything-might be done to prevent discrimination, also chimed in.

Trump admin. declines to brand China a currency manipulator
The provisions of the act provide the United States government with monitoring tools to address "unfair" currency practices. On the US-China trade deficit, Lew said the actual bilateral trade deficit number is not always the issue.

North Carolina is back in the running after lawmakers repealed House Bill 2.

The NCAAawarded the men's and women's golf championship to Oklahoma State in 2018 and Arkansas in 2019 and fencing to Cleveland in 2019, Detroit in 2020, Penn State in 2021 and Notre Dame in 2022. The GAC is now set to host those events through 2023, with assistance from the Greensboro Sports Commission.

"This new law restores the state to that legal landscape: a landscape similar to other jurisdictions presently hosting NCAA championships, " said the statement. The NCAA has also made it official that North Carolina can host their events again now, too.

Majority of US Citizens Think Trump No Longer Lives Up to Promises
Those shifts reflect a dimming of some of the few bright spots for the new administration in polling on Trump's early presidency. Among those who disapprove of Trump, 35% said in February that he keeps his promises; only 11% say so now.

Last season's football title game was moved from Charlotte to Orlando, Florida.

Columbus will play host to first and second round NCAA men's basketball tournament games in 2019 at Nationwide Arena.

"Securing this NCAA event adds to Winston-Salem's impressive portfolio and solidifies our profile as a destination with state-of-the-art sporting facilities that generate positive economic return", said Richard Geiger, president of Visit Winston-Salem. The bill was signed shortly before an NCAA deadline that would have forced the state to wait longer to host events in the future.

After the state passed the "bathroom bill", the collegiate governing body announced it would boycott North Carolina, arguing the bill did not promote a safe, healthy and discrimination-free environment for athletes and fans. Several advocacy groups, including Equality NC, say the repeal effort does not do enough to support the LGBT community.

China, US working on 'North Korea problem'
Pence will be diving into a tense standoff along the Korean Peninsula with visits to South Korea and Japan beginning Sunday. Trump turned to Twitter over the weekend to underscore the key importance of cooperation with China on the Korean problem.

The NCAA previously selected the following sites to host Final Fours: San Antonio (2018), Minneapolis (2019), Atlanta (2020), Indianapolis (2021) and New Orleans (2022).
