A gunman opened fire inside the Equinox fitness center at the Shops at Merrick Park in Coral Gables around 1 p.m. Saturday, leaving one dead and two people wounded, police said.

The shooter, who killed himself after firing at two others, was identified as Abeku Wilson, a fitness trainer at the Coral Gables gym where he carried out the shooting, Xinhua news agency reported.

Alvaro Zabaleta of the Miami-Dade Police Department says detectives have responded to the scene of the shooting in Coral Gables that resulted in one death.

Five schools districts on lockdown as authorities search for suspect
Police say the suspect robbed The Armageddon Gun Shop on Tuesday evening, stealing at least 16 high-end firearms. A suspect in Janesville is now considered a national threat by the Federal Bureau of Investigation .

Coral Gables police flooded the mall, which is located at 358 San Lorenzo Ave.in Coral Gables, between Bird Road and US 1, off Ponce de Leon Bouvlevard, and began putting nearby restaurants and shops, which include Nordstrom, Neiman-Marcus, Crate & Barrel and Jimmy Choo shoes, on lockdown.

In videos posted on social media shortly after the shots rang out, an automated recorded is heard: "Emergency - evacuate or seek shelter".

Tim Hartog, general manager of Yard House restaurant, said the business was on lockdown for a time. Witnesses at the Villagio Restaurant and the Yard House also reported hearing the gun shots.
